This worked connecting to my MacBook Pro M1. From Finder you have to enable CD/DVD drives by checking the box. The external drive only shows up once you insert a CD/DVD into it.

Drive is crap. Put a disc in, it showed up on desktop. When I tried to access it, the drive and disc disappear from my iMac screen. Can not get any data to access and when trying a music CD, it just does not play and then disappears from the desktop. I had to unplug and plug in the device a dozen times just to get my last CD out of the damn thing. This is definitely a cheap Apple Superdrive knock off. Do not waste your time. The NOLYTH drive looks similar but it functions completely better and gives me no issues. I bought them both because I need a CD/DVD drive for both of my computers that have external drives going bad and clicking a lot. Will be returning this for another of that other brand. Including screen shot of the details of the drive in my profiler app.

This works very well and fits the usb port on my MacBook Air. Obviously portable. I only use it to read discs, so I don't know about storage capacity. And it's pretty.

Lasted 1 year of minimal use then all of a sudden, it doesn’t read discs. I tried doing a firmware update but nothing is working. I’ve done some tests and it’s definitely not reading the CDs/DVDs. The bottom of it is very strange and it has a lot of movement on most surfaces. Go with a different drive…

For the price this is easily the best CD/DVD player out there. Unlike 95% of the other brands which require a tray to come out, this one is like most car CD players. Insert the CD or DVD after connecting the device to your USB port. The device is quickly recognized with no additional programming. Easy to eject. Great for laptops and desktops. Lightweight and easy to transport. This one is so great I purchased a second and discarded my other external players. Rate: A+

The CD player stopped working after about 3 hours of working. Within 1 week of purchasing the item. The drive was extremely loud when disc was spinning. Then just stopped and froze my laptop. I have a brand new MacBook Air. So I know it’s not the laptop. Both drives on my laptop work with charging cords. The CD player even froze my computer when it stopped working. I would stop the use, unplug, plug back into the laptop and restart. It would work for about 20 mins then the voices from what was playing in the disc stopped as the counter was still moving as if everything was fine. Then freezes. Super disappointed in this product. I was very excited when I purchased it. It is more expensive then other similar products so I thought the added money would take away any issues. I was sadly wrong. Now my project is delayed and I have to buy a new one. Don’t buy from overseas. Even worse, there is no Oulin company website for me to ask for help and troubleshoot.

There is no place to put a CD or DVD in this new computer so I felt I needed this very much. Trouble is, you can't pay too much attention to what I think because I only used it once. We put Michael Crawford on singing Any Dream Will Do and couldn't find any way to eject it so just pulled it out of the computer, took it to the broken down computer and pushed EJECT and got the disc out and haven't used it since. We are waiting for someone to visit that knows about such things. I just listened to the song before I wrote this and it is in the computer and sounds great.

It started to work somewhat but simply couldn't go as far as playing a music cd or dvd, the only thing I got from it was the grey blank screen where the video would be and a moment of the warning sign for copy right in the dvd, nothing more. I contact Apple Support for it to work with my laptop and he concluded it was defective. I called them since the instructions that was given in the box basically just had one line of instruction and that was what's it suitable to. Nothing more than just plugging it in and expecting to letting it work. I learned more from the Amazon site with instructions in case the connection wouldn't go through more than the paper sheet they gave. Making sure your computer is in the right setting to accept the playing DVDs or CDs and where to find the button or where to look on the computer to make sure it's reading it. It was just a box with the plastic tray inside to hold it, a plastic bag with the usb and foreign language one sheet one statement instructions.
