GMAT Foundations of Math (Manhattan Prep GMAT Prep) Review: Excellent Intro to GMAT Math - This book is excellent. I'd imagine that this book is equally good for getting basics for GRE and SAT, and other standardized test with Math. A friend and I completed this book in 10 days, 1 chapter a day, while working full time. Approximate hours to finish 30 hours. Completed every check your skills questions, and practice problem. Pros: * thoroughness * large # of questions * excellent explanations * Kindle version has better formatting than Digital Editions download from MGMAT website * Ability to have two cloud Kindle viewers open and be able to check answers quickly * exercises work well in drilling important concepts * builds confidence (half the battle!) Cons: * occasional errors in Kindle version, the digital editions PDF from MGMAT website had these correct when I compared with a friend (Wrong Answers in Kindle Version: Check Your Skills Q11, Chap 8; Q48, Chap 8) * important information is nested in the answers to practice problems, thus, beware, do all your practice problems, or at least reads the explanations to them! Overall excellent excellent book, definitely read it. I considered just jumping into the Complete Strategy Guide Set, but am IMMENSELY glad I did this book first. Review: Great for reviewing the basics - I am a returning student and have not had to use the basic math needed for the GMAT in over 20 years. I used the Kaplan GMAT prep, but just could not recall the basics. I'd look at the problem and know what they wanted me to do, but couldn't do the first step. I didn't do well on my first test as a result. I went through this book in less than a week and I did every problem in the book. I didn't study anything else between the first exam and the second exam. My score jumped 140 points. Take a practice exam. If you need to refresh the basics, get this book. If you are fine with the basic skills, but need to polish for the GMAT, this isn't for you. Get a more advanced book.

Pefect for those of us who have been out of school for a number of years
I have been out of school for ten years and it feels like I have forgotten every single thing I learned in my math classes. I bought the OG Quant Review and became completely disheartened upon reviewing it. I tried the GMAT for Dummies, but I'm embarassed to say I found that a little overwhelming, too. (I feel like I need to point out my under-grad GPA was 3.8, so I'm far from being a dummy, but that is how I felt after not using math for ten years.) I then bought the Manhattan GMAT Foundations of Math and I am very pleased with it so far. The author says it's a comprehensive guide to help us remember all the things we once knew, but have since forgotten. This is EXACTLY what I needed. This book reviews the basics. It is not an in-depth study guide. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has been out of school for a number of years and feels overwhelmed at the thought of the quant section of the GMAT.

This was a great resource for brushing up on basic math skills and ...
This was a great resource for brushing up on basic math skills and drilling them until you're comfortable. It also gives great explanations of the concepts and does a good job of 'teaching'. The only drawback is that it does not cover every single type of math question on the test, for example, sets, standard deviation, and the volume of shapes are not included in the book, and those are some of the harder concepts! The OG doesn't do as good a job explaining them, so it would be great to see these included in this book. These may be included in another MGMAT book, since this was the only one I bought, I am not sure about that.

Lays out the groundwork for GMAT Math
I got this as part of my preparation for GMAT. After buying a GMAT study guide from another provider I realized I can't even do long division, manual subtraction, prime factorization. So if you are like me and need to start off with something very basic then start here. That being said, it is not just your basic 4th/5th grade math workbook. Every chapter starts off with the basics, then moves on to how that concept will be used in GMAT and builds up from there. If you are weak in Math (or very very calculator dependent) then start here then move on to GMAT study guides like Kaplan or official GMAT guide. I now force myself to do long division in my head or figure out how much a dress will cost me if its 40% off without the help of a calculator.

Must have for anyone who hasn't taken math classes recently
Just finished this book in about 2 weeks. I highly recommend this for anyone that hasn't taken a math class fairly recently. Do you honestly remember the formula for the arc length of a circle when you're only given the radius and angle? Do you remember factoring or the the square root of something could be positive or negative? Unless you have an amazing memory and remember high school math, buy this book. It provides a ton of drill sets that help reinforce the lessons that you learn and helps you build confidence for doing these problems. I don't have a timing problem (famous last words), but this also teaches you shortcuts so that you answer problems more quickly than you would have otherwise.

Math is good. Kindle version is bad.
This review is for kindle edition. Content of the book is good but it simply doesn’t display well on the kindle or in kindle apps on iOS. For instance, exponents and integers tend to be indistinguishable. And the way problems are laid out and diagrammed, they almost always get split between pages or cut off along the edge. I also find myself wanting to write in the margins and solve the end of section questions in the book, but this is not possible on kindle, so either pad and paper or flipping back and forth between a notes app is required. If I had a do-over, I’d trade the kindle version for a physical book in a heartbeat.

Overall, this is an extremely good resource for reviewing the GMAT quant methods, which will end up tripping you up, even if you know some of the harder concepts. If, like me, you needed more background and importantly PRACTICE in applying these methods, then this book will be very helpful for you as it is full of exercises to bring the point home. I have been working with the kindle version, in which the formatting from page to page can be awkward and also some powers look like normal numbers, though most of them seem fine. This has not taken away from the value I take from the book but it's annoying so be prepared. Also, using the kindle version, when you look at the answer sheets for exercises, use the location feature to get back to the question page as the scrolling becomes extremely tedious very quickly otherwise.

i contenuti sono esposti in modo molto chiaro, senza giri di parole; molto semplice seguire i concetti esposti.
