S1 Fuse Blaster

Our 7.5yr old son got this from Santa and was over the moon - so much so that he immediately made all the designs (using all the beads provided). Be warned: your child will LOVE these, and refill packs will be necessary!After scouring about, it appears that unless you buy the refill packs (themed) the cheapest way to bulk up the bead count for your child to tinker with is to get the "designer" pack which has 1200 beads, to make them go further. Or, if they don't necessarily want to fix the items for hanging/display, there's nothing stopping them simply picking off beads from the little tray and reusing them (like Lego) providing the tray is dry and the beads are not dampened, or their creation will stick.As for fixing them, these seem to stick far more securely than Aquabeads/Beados do (which my daughter got for Xmas), so creations can stand up without bending - although the bright solid-coloured Aquabeads were also a massive hit with both my 4yr old daughter and 7.5yr old son (Beados feel flimsy by comparison for those interested).All in all, a great rainy-day craft for the whole family (my husband and I got involved too). But be prepared to buy more beads, and perhaps a pill/screw case to keep the colours separate...

Fun as with all the Qixel products but..... I prefer the Qixels turbo dryer set only because I don't really see the need for the "water gun" but my husband pointed out he can use it as a water gun when not using it for this..... I disagree (let alone the mess).... The turbo dryer spins to get all the extra water off the product so I find this to be more useful- but also a bit more expensive- either way a great product overall. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has a "MINECRAFT" lover- although not associated with this product the pixilation aspect brings it all together and many "MINECRAFT" items can be made using this. I did find that placing the newly wetted product**WITH ADULT SUPERVISION ONLY** in front of my very small space heater for a short amount of time (10min or so) did get the item to dry a little quicker than the 20 min required wait time..... ***BUT AGAIN ONLY WITH ADULT SUPERVISION WOULD I EVER SUGGEST THIS BEING ATTEMPTED*** and it was at least a couple of feet away from the heater!!

This was a sleeper hit for my 9 year old son's birthday. It's just a little water gun with perler-like beads that stick together when wet, but he absolutely loved it. He was able to make quite a few creations with all the included beads, and we liked that it included stands and accessories. The creations took a while to dry fully - they are very sticky until they do, so keep them on wax- or parchment paper. There isn't much you can do with the finished products other than display them, which is it's only flaw in my mind. I wish there was a way to do more with them. We are thinking about getting more of the booster packs or the speed dryer next, for a future rainy-day activity.

This is a fun new craft-type toy. If you are familiar with Perler beads, these are very similar except you fuse the beads with water instead of heat. This is a good starter set, with some templates, the beads to complete the designs and a water gun to wet them. They take a while to dry, and are very sticky while they cute, but are sturdy after they're done. Would be nice if the set came with more than one display stand, I suppose that's my only "con." and reason for 4 vs 5 stars. My 6 year old son can complete these successfully on his own.
