Original Album Classics

Great way to repackage the remastered album in a very small footprint for a 3 CD box set. I had these remastered albums purchased in the past, but lost them when we lost our self-storage unit to an auction proceeding. Glad to have these classic Iggy Pop albums back in my possession again, and at an awesome price!

Decent selection of Iggy's Late 70's work. New values is the find here and a few versions of songs done later by Bowie (Bang Bang and China Girl)

There's hits on the 1979 New Values: 'New Values' 'Girls' 'I'm Bored' 'Five Foot One' 'African Man' and 'Billy is a Runaway' and on the 1980 Soldier 'Knockin' 'em Down in the City' 'Playin' It Safe' 'Dog Food' 'I Need More''Take Care of Me' 'I Snub You' and possibly the best of these, 'I'm a Conservative'. Oddly, at least to me, given how excellent these songs are, he pretty much only does 'Dog Food' over the years live. I happened to see him in 1979 at the Catamaran hotel in San Diego. He blasted out all the hits from New Values and he was spectacular. There was a stripper's pole on the stage and he used it like he was born on it. I'm flabbergasted that these 2 albums don't get much notice over time. Between them, basically these 13 songs are some of the finest material he's ever done and some of my favorite music by anyone ever. Attitude, strong song structure, perfect vocals, interesting lyrics ('I'm so bored, I'm the chairman of the bored' and 'I got bored so I'm making my millions. When you're conservative you get a better break. You're always on the right side When you're conservative.' It's the greatest satire about being old and conservative and rich I've ever heard and the attitude in his vocals make it one of the finest songs I've ever heard and I have a big 'ol range of musical tastes from punk to rock to jazz and reggae. I'm not much of a fan of the third album but these other two are so fantastic that even the songs I didn't list as hits from them are still fine songs, none are dull or not worth hearing. If you don't have New Values and/or Soldiers this is definitely the package you should be getting if yer at all into Iggy. God bless.

As one can see by the photo, Iggy is in his third trimester and is a bit subdued, yet this is stellar, baby, stellar. I say, if you have the spare jingle, buy this and support his addictions!

This collection is well-priced, but these three albums are definitely not Iggy's best work, in particular Party. Wait for a collection featuring The Idiot or Lust for Life.

I've got quite a few Iggy albums from his later career. Time to back track to the earlier stuff. Superb to get three albums at such a good price and in their original cardboard sleeves. Made up with this... and the music is great too!
