Slapped it on my pi and......nothing, no lights, no USB, no ethernet, as if it was not getting power. However, I did a lsusb, and it popped up as a dwc-otg device. So I added "dtoverlay=dwc-otg" to the config.txt file, and now all is well! I was able to connect a DVD drive to the USB port with no problems, and it played music through a hifiberry hat that I added on top of it for the pi zero. Now can play CDs through the pi zero with DAC converter to my amplifier. Sounds so much better than the default pi output and all in a little package I can slip in my shirt pocket (well, except for the power adapters I have to drag along). Nice!

so i decided to try and build an Allstar node using an original pi zero, of course, I needed USB and wired ethernet. bought this module and connected it to the pi Zero, right away with a clean install of rasbian, it recognized the module and I was up and running on the internet with no issues. with this setup, I was able to install the whole thing into a handheld radio to use as an Allstar node base station.

It's a great module! The only con is you cannot hot plug USB devices without the zero restarting.I tried multiple ways to get around this, and I can't find a single way around it. Somehow it creates a dead short or trips a reset.
