This product simply doesn't do what it claims to do.I bought this after getting a second system (different OS) and an A/B KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse) switch. I was using a PS2 keyboard and plugging it directly into my desktop system. But the KVM switch wants a USB keyboard. So, fine, buy a PS2 to USB adapter, right? Plug the keyboard into the adapter, plug the adapter into the KVM switch.Didn't work. Okay, maybe the problem is in the KVM switch. So I tried plugging the adapter directly into a USB port on my desktop. Nope, still doesn't work. Okay, maybe that port is broken. I plugged it into the port on the front of the box, which I know works because I put flash drives there to transfer data to my laptop. Nope.Okay, maybe my version of Windows doesn't support a USB keyboard? (Windows 7? Seems unlikely, but...) Plugged the adapter into a USB port on the Ubuntu system. Still doesn't work.The final test: I bought an actual USB keyboard and plugged it into the desktop. Works fine! Plugged it into the KVM switch. Worked perfectly.So the problem must be in the adapter. Pity that, but there's no point in getting an adapter that doesn't adapt.I also considered the possibility that I had gotten one defective adapter. So I returned it for a replacement. Second one didn't work either.

This adapter does exactly what it is supposed to do. Good quality.

It didn't work. End of story.I tried plugging it in after the computer booted up, I tried booting up the computer with the thing plugged in. The computer never recognized that there WAS anything plugged in.Why, then, am I giving it three starts instead of one?Because I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt.See, I've seen reviews on these things saying they don't work on Windows Vista.And if it doesn't work on Vista, it's QUITE possible that it won't work on Windows 7, either.Plus I've seen other articles saying they only work on certain kinds of keyboards...that the KEYBOARD has to support the ability to use a USB port.Given that my dad also tried it on his XP netbook, which recognized that something was plugged in but wouldn't USE it...I'm betting it's some combination of the two.On the other hand, it gets ONLY three stars for two reasons:1, if I'd known it wasn't compatible (assuming that's the problem), I would never have bought it.And 2, there's no real reason for it NOT to work on newer versions of Windows.

I got this for my MS-natural knockoff (Liteon SK-6000) and it does NOT work. But then, this keyboard never was designed to use a USB convertor, so I was kind of expecting it to not work, but still hoping it would. Alas, it didn't, which the description does say, so I'm writing this review to warn anyone else hoping it'll work with this same model keyboard, that it really won't. There's other devices on Amazon that do, keep looking for them.

FYI - This device does not change an older PS/2 to USB because you want it to. It has to be made with this ability to do so.I bought this device for a totally different reason and it worked like a champ.We use KVM extenders to place a keyboard, mouse and monitor hundreds of feet away from the actually pc panel in which protects the pc from surge, heat and dirt. Newer pcs only come with usb and we needed to test out a newer pc setup on this one machine, but the KVM extender (over 300 bucks) was PS/2. The people are already using a wireless mouse and keyboard set, so I only needed to get the screen to come up.Unfortunately, the PS/2 connectors supply power to the transmitter. This device allowed the power from the usb to be input into the transmitter and get the vga on again. Worked like a charm, did exactly what I needed.Please do some research before reviewing a product saying that it doesn't work. Not everything does what you want it to because you think it should. Your ps/2 device would have to have been made with this in mind and not many except those made towards the end would have gone this way. USB devices to be ran from the ps/2 port, very common. A PS/2 device running off USB, not very common at all.

It doesn't work. I plugged a standard PS/2 keyboard (Northgate Omni Key/ULTRA) into the adapter, and then plugged the adapter into my desktop. Didn't work. Did the same with my laptop, but this time with it turned off so it had to do a reboot with the adapter was plugged in. Still didn't work.

These little adapters work just as advertised. They are becoming hard to find as most people no longer have the PS2 connection for their keyboard, mouse, etc. Of course, it's easy to just plug-in and use. It's fully functional and has made outdated items, that are still useful and in great condition, available even for today's computer equipment. Highly recommend this little adapter!
