Got this for my 2008 Toyota RAV4 Limited 6cyl. The old case and split, but key was in good shape.Easy to put parts into and everything fit perfect.Snapped to together. The screw must be for different model.

Doesn’t fit
I have a 2013 Scion TC and it did not fit my key. Once I assembled everything, the fob would not shut/ close properly leaving a gap. I thought about giving it a try anyways but the key would just fall apart. I wanted it to work so bad because it’s an easy fix and affordable, but unfortunately it just didn’t work. Had to return.

Easy Assembly
The parts from an OEM Scion remote fit perfectly. The old key snaps into the bracket very easily, just make sure you get it in snugly. Get it firmly into the fob and make sure the screw is tight to the point the key is firmly flat on the base. Everything else is pretty much obvious...EXCEPT you need to remove the security chip - which is NOT THE MODULE that handles the remote entry buttons. There is a separate chip in the fob that you need to carefully remove and place into the slot in this fob. Otherwise, it's an easy option if your cheap plastic Toyota (Scion) FOB breaks.

WAIT! PAY ATTENTION!
UPDATE....I am sick! Long story short.... because this replacement part doesn't close properly and will pop out....I recommend sealing with a few dabs of crazy glue on at least two sides. I let a family friend use my car (something I NEVER do) to make a quick dash to HD...due to the fact they carry 200 keys, (?????) my slightly glue key was knocked open and this replacement part along with the transformer chip to operate my vehicle was lost. They couldn't find it. So I am out of $400 to replace my car key with transformer chip.Listen! I had trashed a major component to this key replacement. I am not sure why the sellers do not provide any information regarding the transport with the packaging. I had to learn about this after my car wouldn't start. As I was thankful to work from home remotely, I was bothered my recent car trouble was back to haunt me. Then I came back to the review page to learn I had tossed a needed part with the old key. Thankfully it wasn't trash day. I retrieve the old key and patiently broke away around the small slot to remove the transport. Someone else had mentioned that it was covered in glue....they were right. After a careful cleaning...it fit. My car started. The case don't close tightly....so a little glue may be applied.

Needs to be customized
The media could not be loaded. It’s OK, but you gonna have to customize it for file the little buttons With 200 sandpaperMake sure you press the key really hard to get it Snug So that way you’re gonna be able To put the screwNumber one and most important make sure you transfer the magnet if you don’t have the magnet, your car won’t start Watch the video I provideIf you’re not be able to do any of these, you are worthless and your parents did a horrible jobYou can’t think outside the box so go to the dealership and pay the $300 for a new key ..

Buttons do not stay in
My original 2012 RAV4 key case cracked in half & all I wanted was a replacement key case so I could then move my original ignition key, battery & the transponder to a working fob (case with buttons to lock & unlock doors). However, the buttons do not stay in at all, once pressed they fall out! I even had my engineer son try it who said they are not made to snap in securely. The original buttons “rocked” when pushed as they snapped in on 1 side so they didn’t fall out. So these are not made like the original. Don’t understand why this is so complicated as it should be quite simple to just make an empty plastic case with useable buttons. Very poor design with no quality control. Do not recommend.

Kinda works until it doesn't
Seems like the right idea. The key blade fits into the holder, a small screw tightens it into one side of the case. You use the new buttons, rubber pad, and your circuit board. It all fits together nicely, and you snap on the back of the case. The problem is, when you twist the key in the ignition, the case comes apart. Even with the key blade screwed in tight, you can move the blade up and down, which snaps the case open, and the thing falls apart. I will return this product, and go with the complete uncut new key.

Working Great So Far
This replacement key head has worked perfectly so far for my 2008 Toyota Rav4. My only concern is that the bottom edge near the key blade (on the side where the screw is) doesn't snap together as completely as the other side. However, it is secure for now, and everything is working as it should.

Case pops apart when starting car
The overall fit and finish of the shell and buttons is not at the same level as the OEM Toyota keys. That in itself isn't as big a deal as the very weak interlock between the shells. When turning the key in the ignition the bottom shell simply pops off the upper shell. Gluing them together isn't an option since it would prevent future replacement of the fob battery. It was a nice idea to save some $ on getting a new fob with key cut at a locksmith, but unfortunately that didn't pan out. In the trash it goes.

A good product, but it lacks instructions.
Overall, this is a decent product to change the broken shell of your Toyota key at a very low price, but you must not forget to transfer the chip or the vehicle won't start. There are several tutorials on Youtube. But beware, transferring the chip is a rather difficult task that requires a lot of patience, meticulousness and caution. The chip is very fragile and it is glued to its slot.

Non Chipped Replacement
The case is good to transfer your existing remote control and key blade but it doesn't have a programmable chip and would not start your car. It does have a slot for a chip if you can dig it out of your old car key. The supplier show have made this clear on their site. I bought a programable key separately and use this case for the remote control

ok but not great, updated, not even ok
It is a cost effective way to replace a key with a broken housing. No instructions but fairly straight forward. I did fine that by using the small screw to hold the key in place the housing twisted and would pop the back off. I followed Toyota's lead and glued the plastic key holder to the front cover with quality adhesive. That solved the twisting issue. and works good now. After using for 2 month or so the casing that holds the key failed so now it is going in the trash and will replace with a fob with built in chip. Not worth the money if it fails after a short period. Do not buy.
