Timex Weekender 38 mm Watch

The Timex weekender is one of the iconic modern classics from Timex, along with the easy reader and expedition models. It’s a simple, no nonsense, tried and tested watch that’s been around for years. Unlike many of the strange sounding brand names of similar price on Amazon, the design is original to Timex and been around for decades. I own some much more expensive Swiss made watches that are very good, but take themselves far too seriously. This is a fun watch that Timex actively encourage you to customise with different canvas slip through nato style straps. It’s called the weekender and it will suit most average people’s weekend activities. It’s a great size for the average wrist and would work well as a unisex watch to share with your partner. What I particularly enjoy is the utter simplicity of the watch, not minimalist contrived simplicity but genuine simplicity. I can’t imagine that there was a moody black and white advertising campaign when this watch was released, extolling how they have removed all unnecessary frills leaving only the essence of a watch, in fact there was likely no advertising campaign at all! It’s made of basic materials, chrome plated brass case, uncoated mineral crystal, fully printed dial, no lume (you don’t need it, the back light is way better). Oh and it ticks really loud! It’s far from the best watch you can get, but it’s all the watch you actually need and this is the whole point of it. I love that it’s time only too, so you don’t even have to set the date every few months. It is the antithesis of luxury and this is precisely why I like it.

What can I say its a timex so quality and price always good, I wasn't sure the watch band was going to be comfortable but to my surprise it's very easy on the wrist. I read/watched alot of reviews on amazon and YouTube and alot said it was a noisy ticker, I on the other hand have not heard it at all unless I physically put it to my ear. Apparently its easy to pull the crown out and thus have a non functioning watch, i havent had this problem at all, and using the indiglow feature at night is pretty simple. What I really like about it is the thickness of the watch case, I prefer not so bulky and this is not bulky the diameter is just right as well. All in all I highly recommend this watch.

I was looking for a reasonably priced watch that was smart enough to wear for work but that didn't look too "flash". This one fits the bill perfectly. The case is actually much shinier than in the picture, where it looks almost matte, but I personally think it looks very attractive and a nice contrast with the black face and strap. The Indiglo feature works very well, lighting up the entire face of the watch, leaving the numerals and hands as shadows. The strap is made of what seems like good quality nylon webbing with soft edges that don't chaff. It's also a fairly thin strap but the holes for the buckle look like they've been heat sealed so hopefully won't enlarge too easily. Another nice feature is that being a "slip-though" strap it covers a large park of the back of the watch and acts as a buffer so the metal isn't pressed against the skin, which I find much more comfortable. So far the watch seems to have good time compared to an "atomic clock" webpage I use to test my timepieces against with no perceptible difference after over a day. I'm taking one star off because I find the strap to be slightly too short for me to feel it is totally secure. I have large wrists but need to use the last or (at a stretch) the last-but-one hole in the strap. This doesn't leave too much extra strap and it only just passes through the first of the two keeper rings. For reference my strap is approximately 233mm (not including buckle). As I say, my wrists are fairly large and at least the strap is very easy to change. I plan to replace mine with a "NATO" or RAF style fabric strap which are widely available. In the meantime I've not had any issues with the supplied one coming loose and the feel of it is very comfortable.

Timex have very good watches in this price range. Like the simple style of this watch, and it's a clear and easy to read face. This watch replaces an old Timex that had some extreme wear and tear, but otherwise was still ticking. Time for a new one though.

The watch has good quality for its price, it's definitely worth the cost. I'd definitely buy another one. The second hand ticks every 1 second, so if one's looking for a smooth hands for a cheap price, they should look elsewhere. To be honest, this is the only drawback I've noticed and it's minor You can turn night-mode on by pressing the crown at the side. It's a pretty nice and useful feature. To adjust the time, pull it. It comes with a battery, can be used straight away. 20mm straps fit the (I like Germony's, personally). The given strap is also of good quality and great length. It's not rough and is comfortable after whole day of wearing. Due to the fact that it's a single strap, Some people have been saying it's very loud - it's not, at least for me. Far from annoying, at least. If I put the watch on the night table, I am able to hear it in total silence, but it's nowhere near uncomfortable. In fact, I feel comfortable to hear non-loud ticks in background. At school, I have to put my head on my forearm to hear the ticks. Generaly speaking, ticks won't disturb you if you're doing something or there is any sound. I also liked the bars at the side, they allow telling exact time fast.

The watch keeps stopping. A Christmas present so less than a month old.

I love it, love the size of the face, love the light for the face, it’s comfortable to wear, looks good, I like the self winding mechanism, it’s all good, a great purchase that I use every day. I know I have a click on my phone, this I use because it’s quick and easy plus it’s reliable. I know the phone is reliable but I like this watch and yes it’s quicker.

Zegarek jest ładny, co zresztą widać na zdjęciach. Tarcza ma kolor beżowy, ale nie wydaje się w rzeczywistości aż tak bardzo bezowa jak na zdjęciach poglądowych. Zdjęcia użytkowników przedstawiają ją jednak jako zbyt biała (zapewne wina automatycznego balansu bieli). Bardzo ładny font, świetnie wyglądający wyniesiony pierścień indeksów minutowych. Rewelacyjne podświetlenie tarczy. Koperta elegancka, wykończona na połysk. Pasek lepszy niż się spodziewałem, przyjemny w dotyku, miękki, z dziurkami nawet na najmniejsze nadgarstki. Ale było by zbyt pięknie, gdyby wszytko było tak ładnie. Zegarek jest po prostu głośny. Bardzo wyraźnie słychać tykanie nawet nie przykładając ręki do ucha. Przypomina to tykanie taniego zegara ściennego. Wielka szkoda. Mimo tej wady w tej cenie ciężko znaleźć coś lepszego (a warto poczekać na przecenę, bo kupiłem za 140zl)

I got this watch with a black strap and ordered 3 extra nylon straps along with it (blue, green and brown). This watch is so versatile that this goes well with almost every outfit, especially with the extra belts. You can use it with casual outfits, with sporty outfits, with classy outfits and also with suits. Pretty satisfied.

What can I say this watch is classic Timex at its best , wears great easy to read the time and you can pretty much use any type of strap out there so much choice with a 20mm strap width great everyday beater for a bargain price everyone should own one of these in their watch collection.
