L'année 2012 fut celle de Pierce The Veil. Premier album? Oh non, c'est même le 3e! Il faut dire que les garçons approchent de la trentaine, se sont donc de faux newcomers. Les 2 précedents albums étaient un peu passés sous les radars en Europe, bien que le second (Selfish Machines), plus que correct leur ait déjà apporté une certaine notoriété. Si le précédent était déjà bien, pourquoi ne les a-t-on pas entendus? Parce qu'il manquait un hit. Bien sûr il y a eu des singles, plutôt bien reçus, mais pas de vrai hit... Cet album nous en fournit un. "King For A Day" est une véritable claque. On croyait le post-hardcore fini? Que dalle nous disent les frères Fuentes. Mais Pierce The Veil c'est plus que du Post-Hardcore. Avec un featuring du chanteur des Sleeping With Sirens, Kellin Quinn, une intro reconnaissable entre mille, deux voix charismatiques et un rythme soutenu, le tout enrobé de screamo bien dosé... Le single est en passe d'atteindre les 8 millions de vues sur Youtube au moment où j'écris, et dans le milieu, c'est énorme. On ne s'en lasse pas. Le reste de l'album réserve encore des surprises. L'intro est enormissîme, suivie du très punk-hardcore "Hell Above", "The First Punch" est un véritable défouloir au refrain imparable, "Bulls in the Bronx" nous offre un fantastique solo de guitare acoustique... L'album est varié, très bien structuré, très bien produit, et artistiquement très intéressant. Sachant qu'ils s'améliorent d'album en album, je n'imagine même pas dans quel état va nous mettre le suivant. En tout cas, un groupe à suivre et un album à posséder.
