A beautiful scientist on the verge of making medical history. But for the greater good, her experiments have violated ethical codes in the hopes of using genetically modified sharks to regenerate human brain tissue. Now, one of nature's fastest and most perfect killing machines has been re-engineered as something smarter, faster and much, much more deadly. And when things go disastrously wrong as a tropical storm bears down, the aquatic killing machines begin hunting their creators . . . who are alone and adrift on the Deep Blue Sea. Review: Classic Shark Movie - One of the cheesiest yet most entertaining movies to come out of the 90s, Deep Blue Sea is so much fun to watch - especially if you like Jaws. With its basic plot and thin writing, you wouldn't think someone would be able to make an entertaining movie out of it. But Renny Harlin does just that, and the actors do a fine job as well, making well-rounded 3D performances of their characters. Standouts include Samuel L Jackson and LL Cool J (my fav character in the film) However, one thing to note about the seller is that I didn't receive the item pictured, instead I received the two pack Deep Blue Sea 1 & 2. Two movies for one price, though. Not complaining, although the first is way better. Overall: if you like creature/disaster movies, buy it!! It's awesome! Great movie. One of Renny Harlan’s best. 🍿
Good purchase, reasonable price and it arrived on time. This movie has to be one of the most underrated shark 🦈 thrillers. Great casting, definitely the best role LL Cool J has done as an actor. The rest of the professional actors give great performances as well. Samuel Jackson, Thomas Jane, Stellan Skarsgard, Saffron Burrows, all excellent performers. The sharks are very stylish and they think—before they eat you, lol. Great fun, highly recommend it.

Great release overall but the Atmos is screwed up
The transfer on this 4K looks really good, much better than the blu ray and there's a lot of detail here thanks to the DV/HDR. New features are a bit lacking here, seems like none of the cast wanted to come back and talk about this movie which is a shame. The audio is pretty solid for the most part but for some reason the Atmos audio goes silent during the tail end of the closing credits and it's very bizarre, I've never seen anything like it before especially from Arrow and they have yet to acknowledge the mistake or rectify it. That definitely loses 1 star from me. Other than that stupidity, it's the best release of Deep Blue Sea.

a shark ate me!
This is a classic, feel-good movie with that old-school charm. It’s entertaining from start to finish and makes for a perfect summer watch. Packed with memorable lines and a few great jump scares, it’s an all-around awesome film.

2nd Best Shark Film Yet
Of course every shark film made after 1975 will get compared to Jaws. Jaws is a classic from start to finish. I dont consider Deep Blue Sea a classic, but its still a very good film. It shouldnt be compared to Jaws because its really NOTHING like it other than having sharks in both movies. Ive always enjoyed the films acting and its furious pace. Its really an action packed thriller. Thats the best way to describe it. Deep Blue Seas special effects have been talked about ever since the film came out. Of course, opinions vary on if the effects are good or bad. I personally havent seen a movie where the CGI stuff looked 110% real. Nevertheless, I think the sharks look pretty cool. Maybe not completely real, but they look really good. I thought the effects as a whole were always awesome in this. The effects are some the factors that make the film good but they arent what make it great. What makes this great is the pace and action scenes during the entire film. It doesnt stop with the action, the whole film is like one huge ride. Its pretty much nonstop. Like I noted, the acting is good too. The actors certainly did the best they could with what little dialogue they had. Thomas Jane played his character very well and I loved his performance. Ive seen the film numerous times and every single time Ive been entertained to the fullest. Thats what its meant to be is entertaining, not a huge epic. I loved this from the first viewing. I think that its underrated and deserves a lot more credit. I recommend it to those who like a good thriller or action movie.

Fun (if predictable) ride
I enjoyed this movie for several reasons, including the choice of actors - I thought everyone did a good job with their individual characters (spoiler - most of whom get eaten). This is one of those films about: "Look what stupid humans did to create monsters (in this case, sharks) for our own profit (in this case, for Alzheimer's drug research), and lo and behold, our creations turn on us in the most horrible way (they eat us)". The special effects (the sharks) won't wow you, but they're pretty good. The story is somewhat unbelievable, but it's real enough to keep you engaged. And let's face it, everybody fears being eaten by a shark, no matter how close they ever come to the ocean, so the constant scrambling by the characters to avoid this fate is sympathetic, at the very least. Saffron Burrows, as the scheming, hard-assed doctor in charge of this doomed crew, is very good. She gives the term "ice cold bitch" new meaning. Samuel Jackson as her financial backer, trying to decide if he will pull his funding after an "accident", is a great foil for her. Worth a rental.
