Could become an unsafe distraction.
Works well to see what the baby is doing. BUT you have to be conscious to not let it become a distraction. It's so much nicer to look at the baby than to look at traffic so you really have to discipline yourself to only look in red lights and not let crying or cute noises distract you. The potential for having an accident increases with each additional distraction and the distraction caused by a baby is almost irresistible.

Stays in place nicely for our jeep
I had another type of mirror for the car and it never stayed in place in my Jeep. This mirror has never moved on me and I can see the baby from the front seat. The mirror itself pivots so you can put it on a window seat headrest and still see the baby if you have your car seat in the middle.
