cooks too high for slow cooker. does nothing but boil is it suppose to do this? useless as slow cooker

I bought mine less than 4 month ago and I am having the same issue with the settings. I have to keep it below the low setting for it to not boil. It also makes a crackling noise whenever I adjust the heat. The finish is also coming off already on the bottom. Not at all the quality that I'm used to in their slow cookers. Oh, and just so you know the handles are not heat proof so you have to use pot holders to take it off the stove.

It holds 6 quarts and is 4 1/2 deep

What are the dimensions of both the burner and of 6qt pot? separately, please.

6qt pot: 12”L x 7.5”W x 7.5”H Power base: 13”L x 10”W x 3”H

Safe to sit on counter top when in use?

Yes - it can be used on a countertop. Our counter top and back splash are formica. We have kept the unit for 3 full days and there has been no problem. It was about an inch away from the back splash. The temperature setting was a bit below a boil. Also keep the cord away from the heated surface. For safety sake, I would leave one or two inches from other thngs.
