Neat tool.
I was having temperature gauge issues with my street rod, and thought the thermostat or water pump were not doing their job. So I purchased the Raytek laser unit. It was fun to see how everything warms up on the cooling system. The unit is simple to use. At about the 8-10" distance, you can pinpoint the spot for the reading. Keeps your hands well away from spinning parts. You may not use it every day, but when you need to know the temp of anything, you're ready.I'm very pleased with the tool.Ratzo

Good unit at the $100 price point.
Saying that it is for "Automotive Diagnostics" is more marketing than substance as most of these thermometers work well for this purpose. This one just has a booklet with some suggestions for how it could be used to figure out what is wrong with your car. That said it is a solid unit and seems to be very accurate as long as the surface is dark and not shiny. I also like the plastic case it comes in.

Not having it against the wanted reading area will lead to inaccurate and erratic measurements just like any other Raytek device
Does not work as advertised as far as having a focused beam away from the heat source. Not having it against the wanted reading area will lead to inaccurate and erratic measurements just like any other Raytek device I've tried.

Simple, accurate, reliable.
This the standard for automotive type infared temp guns in my opinion. The dual lasers are helpful for pinpointing the focus range on parts where there are many different temps in a small area, like a thermostat housing near a exhaust manifold. The magnets in the handle are super handy and the battery life is awesome. I dont' know of a single thing I would change about this gun.

Reads 8 F degrees high, but consistent
I bought this unit to use the dual laser dots as an aid to knowing exactly what it is I am measuring, when wanting a reading on RC craft motors and on the ICs of electronic circuit boards. Compared to my Raytek Mini Temp MT, which has no laser at all, this new ST25 reads 8F degrees high, but it is consistent over a range of items from 40 to 180F that I tested. I presume the MT model is right, or at least close, because I can scan most any item in my home office and the surface will usually match the temperature in the room, about 72F at the time of testing. The ST25 would show the same item at 80F. I know it isn't 80 in here, because I would be sweltering if it were.Although I am disappointed that the device is apparently incorrectly calibrated, I can subtract the 8 degrees and it then seems to correctly measure everything I pointed it at. A calibration adjustment for the user would make a nice addition to this model. The ST25 seems solidly built and I was surprised by how much larger in size it is compared to the mini MT. It comes in a nice molded carry case with a manual that describes several items that can be tested, including such things as rear window defroster traces and other automotive items. The manual is in several languages.

Accurate.. Easy to use... and the laser sighting is worth the extra dough.
Accurate enough for what ever use you have in mind.Easy to use. Just pull the trigger and point. Just remember it only reads surfacesThe laser sighting is worth the extra dough. Allows you to pin point the temp reading instead of guessing. "is this 10" away"Good product
