Seems to be a great value for the cost
This is a full size, folding, non-spring assist opening knife with better than normal blank stainless steel blade and a tactical design rather than wood or plastic handle. If you have a large hand, this knife fits comfortably and feels heavy and well made. When opened to the locked position, the blade is solidly in place with no play until the unlock button is pressed allowing the blade to easily fold back into the handle. It has a heavy belt/pocket clip so it stays where you clip it. This clip seems to stick up a bit higher than others I've owned and may prove to be a slight annoyance by catching my hand when I don't intend on touching it. So far, I'm very pleased with this purchase. It arrived well packed and I've carried it several days since. I've used it for a few small jobs and found it to be plenty sharp right out of the package. If you want a larger than normal single folding blade pocket knife - you should be considering this model from SOG. You will have a challenge finding a better one for even 30% more money.

SOG is my Standard
For a little bit of background, I've been a blade connoisseur since my grandfather started teaching me how to make my own 15 years ago. I've had Smith and Wesson blades, Cold Steel, Winchester, Buck, Ka-Bar, Gerber, CKRT and SOG. My first SOG blade was instantly my favorite blade, and I'm happy to say they have continued to impress. I broke my last pocket knife (a Gerber that I loved) being stupid and trying to pry something I had no business prying on with a knife. Since it busted my daily blade I went on search of a new one. SOG has a lot of interesting knives, and whittling down which one to buy was a challenge. Over all my decision came down to about the worse possible attribute when shopping for a blade: How it looked. Looks in a knife are purely personal, and most of the time highly irrelevant. The look of the FF-11 is one of the irrelevant cases. It's handle doesn't look like it provides any extra "live without" features, though there is a rescission between the handle and thumb assist that allows a very comfortable and easy access to flip out your blade. The FF-11 is COMPLETELY ambidextrous. The clip belt/pocket clip is easy to move from one side of the handle to the other. The thumb assist is located in a narrow open space on the blade, and allows for the assist to be relocated higher or lower on the blade for personal preference. The assist can be reached from ether side of the blade, and the recession mentioned above is also found on each side. The blade is located in a perfectly centered position, reducing and deterioration of the blade or handle from constant rubbing, and when closed the blade does not press into the "back wall" of the handle. The blade has a beautiful "walk and talk". Meaning it is beautifully easy to open, a small nudge and flick of the wrist brings about a resounding and very final "clack". The noise is reassuring, and for a knife lover like myself beautiful. It opens and closes smoothly, not a hitch to be seen, heard, felt, nothing. It's one solid motion. When fully extended the blade is a beautiful black, with a shiny, razor sharp edge. Five minuets with this blade and my brother is already nursing a nasty cut. (He was playing with her, missed his nail while presumably attempting to trim it, and it SUNK easily through his skin.) So be warned, if your one of those that "just need a knife" and your use to something from Wal-Mart please treat this with extra caution, other wise you'll end up like him. The spine of the FF-11 holds the "lock back". The location will not allow (at least to my knowledge, and I HAVE tried) for an accidental closure, but it's action when in use is smooth, and completely fluent. The Belt/Pocket clip IS VERY STIFF. I know it was said in earlier reviews, I personally fixed this by wrapping a dime in a kitchen plastic wrap (one layer only, enough to keep the dime from roughing up my handle anymore then completely necessarily) and placing it between the clip and handle. It took about two days (leaving it from the time I got home till I left the next morning) to gap enough to easily, yet securely, clip on my pocket. I ordered this new, and the package it came in was open, busted up, and falling apart. The knife looks perfect. I'm fairly certain the boxing was open due to it being a "show case" item. Even if you kept this blade for just a show case you wouldn't be disappointed. When they come back in stock I'll be ordering (from the same supplier I hope. They were fairly amazing.) at least two more, just to keep around in case I do something stupid with this one. It cost me almost 50 dollars for the FF-11 I have here. I would GLADLY shell out 110-120 for her. 50 dollars with faster then normal shipping was a steal, I really do think it's been completely under priced. Side note: You won't find many reviews from me I think I've written three now.) So let that be a statement to just how much I'm in love with this blade.

Made in China - Beware; Still Nice Knife
I love SOG knives. I have a lot of their fixed blade knives. However, I don't buy their knives that are made in China. I made an exception with this one. Even though the country of origin states USA in the Amazon description, the blade is stamped "China." It's still a beautiful knife. Sharp and well constructed. I just don't like Chi-comm steel. Too brittle compared to U.S. and European (especially German) steel. Yeah, you pay for better steel, but that's fine with me. Stamp it "Taiwan" and I'll buy it. China dumps low grade steel on the market, and it's widely used because of its lower cost. If I have a choice, I won't buy Chinese steel until the quality changes. However, the SOG website lists this knife's origin as China. Fair report. 5 stars for design & appearance, sharp blade, and good construction.

Good and Bad
I bought "this" knife ten years ago and it was great. It was literally my every-day-carry knife for ten years and it was awesome. Unfortunately, I lost it a few days ago; I'm sure whoever found it was pleased. I ordered a replacement which I mistakenly thought was identical. Now, when I look in Amazon in my orders, if I pull up the order from 2013 and click "Buy it again" it indicates, "Consider this replacement" but it didn't say "consider this replacement" when I made the order (not the manufacturer's fault, I know). I'm disappointed because it isn't the same. What is different: 1. My original knife had a serrated edge on the lower portion of the blade near the handle which was very useful. This knife doesn't have any serration. 2. My old knife would EASILY flip open with a flick of my thumb. This one will not. It's impossible to open it without using my other hand. Perhaps it will losen up with time and use. It does feel good in my hand, solid and has a nice weight, just like the old one. So, I'll give it a try.

Solid, simple, quality, functional tool.
I'm an ex military guy who is currently a delivery guy for one of the bigs in the industry. I find myself in rural setting often where everybody has a dog and lots of them are pit bulls. I've had dogs come up on me caught completely unaware and have been charged at on occasion enough to arm myself with a blade to defend myself in these situations. I've handled all kinds of knives in over 50 years of life. This blade just feels right in every way. Great balance, easy open, locks tight, good grip. Very sharp blade out of the box. To be honest I wear it every day but have not yet put it to use being that I wear it for self defense. I do practice my draw though and stabbing and swiping techniques often. From my belt or from my cargo pocket I can get to it and draw and open it quickly. The thumb screw and spring assist help in this regard. I don't see the complaints on the thumb screw a few others have mentioned. Great knife and great value.

Ottimo coltello, ben proporzionato. Molto solido e la lama aperta risulta stabile e ben fissata. Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Consegna nei tempi stabiliti. Venditore consigliato.

Meine damaligen SOGs (Tomcat etc.) waren etwas ganz anderes. Würde ich nicht wieder kaufen.
