A new hobby for me.
I really fancied a go at dot painting. I love the colourful mandala patterns you can achieve and wanted to try them on different surfaces like card, rock and wood. I watched a few guidance videos online and realised I needed a decent kit with the right tools included. So I researched on Amazon and chose this set. I’m really really happy with it. It includes different sizes of tubes, double ended stylus and the big ball pens. I’m sure they probably have technical names but you get the gist. You also get some stencils, chalk, a rubber and two black card disks. You also get a paint pallet, paint brush and basic instructions. Finally you get a little easel to display your finished piece when you use the disks. For a first go I decided to use one of the disks provided. So first you need to chalk on a pattern using the stencil. Then you need acrylic paints in your chosen colours. I use crafters choice paints which you can buy on Amazon. I have quite a collection so I just picked a few. It’s actually harder than it looks. The middle of my pattern went a bit wonky even after practising on scrap paper. I just made up the pattern as I went along following the stencil marks. Once your paint has dried overnight you can rub off the chalk using the rubber provided. It didn’t damage the paint at all ( I was a bit worried). Anyway I think I got the hang of it eventually. I think the hardest thing is getting your paint to a perfect consistency. It needs to be thin enough spread into itself and not leave a peak but thick enough to hold its colour. I’m sure with practice I will get this better. I used pretty much every tool in my pattern just to understand what does what. I particularly liked the stylus pens as you don’t have to hold them vertically to get your perfect dot. I love the patterns made by ‘walking the dot’. Definitely watch videos on what styles you can do. I’m quite pleased with my first attempt and will definitely do more. This set will enable me to try lots of things as it has everything you need to get going. Considering the amount included this is great value for money and all the tools feel excellent quality. They all wash really easily. My final recommendation is get a turntable. It makes life so much easier. Luckily I had a cake turntable which did the job perfectly. I can definitely recommend this set. I’m very happy I bought it and I look forward to creating further beautiful patterns.

Really nice!
This is a lovely little set, would make a great gift (I've just painted my first stone) The only thing with mine was that one of them had the little dotting bar missing from one of ends of the styluses, but apart from that, i love it, and they work really well. Came in a lovely box too.

A brilliant, great value kit
I recently attended a mandala stone painting course and was totally hooked. So, I looked around to find some tools to try it out at home - and then came across this incredible kit that had EVERYTHING in it from a paint palette, loads of different size 'dotting' tools, templates, jewels... so much more than I expected and such great value!

Good quality but incomplete
I am a little disappointed. I bought this as a Christmas gift. On opening it on Christmas Day we found that the small ball tools were missing which was a great disappointment for myself and the recipient. As there was no way to contact the seller direct I have had to give it 3 stars. Had it been complete I would have given it 5

A comprehensive and value for money kit
This kit is great value for money, as it contains a good selection of tools required for creating mandalas. It's helpful to keep these in the one box.The discs are a strong thickness.I would recommend it for beginners and intermediate crofters.
