Brilliant focuser design - very smooth and easy to operate one handed. The 6x magnification makes for steady viewing with the view being crisp edge to edge. The build is solid and the monocular fits my hand well. The macro lens is easy to adjust for close vs distance viewing. As the macro lens is integrated, you don’t have the bother of screwing and unscrewing it when you want to go between distance viewing and macro viewing. I much prefer this to my 8x36 monocular as the field of view is larger and there is less shaking if the image.

Good images near and far. Very lightweight, fits in shorts or coat pocket. Easy to use one-handed.

Got the monocular for reading network labels off the ceiling at work (tiny labels 6 feet above our heads). FANTASTIC for this purpose. The clarity through the optics is amazing, and the control on the focus is super precise. Our whole team is very, very impressed. We got the kit that turns it into a microscope and are very impressed with that too although we haven't had a 'real' use for it yet. But pretty sure it will serve well when the time comes. One complaint is the holster that comes with it is pretty much pointless. It is cleverly designed so the monocle can be used while it is still in the case, however it is shortsightedly designed with only a belt loop rather than a clip. So you can use it in the case if you want to take your belt off... It also provides no lens protection, AND in combination with that, getting it in or out of the holster pretty much leads to fingers on lenses unless you are super careful about it. None of us can think of a reason why a person would want to use it with the holster on it anyway. We are a diverse group with many hand sizes and it fits well in the hand for any of us. So, I wish there was an option for a clip on holster with flap so the lenses were protected. We could then pass it around easily, and also put it in a backpack when done without fear of lens damage.

Fantastic! Provides a very crisp-to-the-edge image. Great eye relief makes for comfortable viewing for this eyeglass wearer. The focusing mechanism is surprisingly precise and holds its position when your fingers are moved off the focus lever. Close focus (4.5ft) is amazing, making toe-gazing possible! as well as viewing insects that might fly, should you get closer! Highly recommended if you are juggling a camera and magnifier around your neck and would prefer not to add the weight of a midsize pair of binoculars to the mix. (Good binoculars absolutely have their place in nature watching, but when photography is the goal, a small, widefield monocular may serve the purpose of finding your photographic target.) My only disappointment is that Pentax did not include lens caps with this fine optic. I measure the eyepiece outer rubber ring diameter as 28.4-28.5mm. The objective outer ring is 36.2-36.4mm. I found that a 28.5mm ID lens cap is perfect for the eyepiece. I could only acquire a 36mm ID cap for the objective. (see photo) It fits a bit too snug. Once on, neither cap will fall off. I am hoping to purchase a 36.3 mm ID cap when they become available. A good place to look for these caps is Agenaastro, etc. Update: For the objective lens, a 36.3 mm cap would be perfect (I think), but that size seems to be on perpetual backorder at Agenaastro. Instead, I purchased a 36.5 mm cap (orange color). As expected, it fit a little loosely so I tightened it up with a thin, smooth layer of GOOP on the inner shoulder of the cap (perfection is not necessary...just keep it thin, you can always add more). The modified cap fits perfectly! It will not fall off; it only comes off (without difficulty) when you take it off.

Excellent optics. Smooth one-handed focus. I own a dozen monoculars, and this is one of the best.

its small, its light, fov is big, but most of all the focus adjustment is fantastic. i am buying a second one to give to me mum.

Bought this for my trip to peru. Get to the top of machu pechu and the focus button breaks off the top! This moment is what I bought it in the first place! Seams to be held on by a drop of rubber cement. Was able to haphazardly use it and realized it had a pretty decent clear lens but try something built better.

Mein Vater hat ein sehr gutes Fernglas vor langer Zeit geschenkt bekommen – fast 30 Jahre ist das Swarovski nun schon alt. Ich wollte mir mal selbst ein Fernglas besorgen jedoch nicht so teuer und wo man nicht ganz so sorgfältig umgehen muss damit und das man ohne große Bedenken auch in den Urlaub mitnehmen kann. Da wir aber schon ein Fernglas in der Familie haben und Ferngläser für Reisen ohnehin fast zu groß sind bin ich auf den Entschluss für ein Monokular gestoßen. Die Auswahl ist dabei nicht so groß wie bei Ferngläsern. Ich denke, dass für den Anwendungsfall gelegentlich etwas Beobachten bzw. Wandern, Reisen, etc. dieses Pentax das Beste ist. 1.) Haptik und Verarbeitungsqualität Es ist verdammt klein, fällt durch das geringe Gewicht an einem Gürtel oder Rucksack gar nicht auf und ist schnell „Einsatzbereit“. Einhändig bedienbar ist es auch, der Fokusmechanismus fühlt sich gut und präzise an, allerdings etwas kontraintuitiv – wenn ich auf etwas scharfstellen will das in der Ferne ist, dann wäre es für mich intuitiv, die Wippe Richtung Objekt zu Bewegen. Also: Objektivseitig drücken -> Fern, Okularseitig drücken-> Nah. Es ist aber genau andersherum. Wird man gewohnt, fällt aber direkt auf. Die Verarbeitung fühlt sich sehr gut, obwohl nicht made in Japan. Ich weiß nicht, ob das Gehäuse drunter einen Metallrahmen hat, so wie es sich anfühlt ist es rein aus Kunststoff aber nicht minderwertig. 2.) Optik Optisch ist das Pentax Monokular sehr gut. Die Coatings tun ihren Zweck – Chromatische Abberationen konnte ich tatsächlich keine feststellen, obwohl an einem Sonnigen Tag z.B. Stromleitungen betrachtet wurden. Soweit also schonmal sehr gut. Ich bin mir noch unschlüssig ob die Prismen aus BaK4 oder Bk7 sind. Die Info lässt sich leider kaum finden, mir ist es jedenfalls nicht gelungen. Bei dem Preis für ein so kleines Monokular wäre es toll, wenn es BaK4 wäre, größere Ferngläser von Pentax die um die 100€ kosten haben schließlich auch BaK4 Porro Prismen verbaut. Die Prismen sind in Dachkantkonfiguration angeordnet und haben laut Produktbeschreibung und Werbung eine Phasenkorrekturbeschichtung, was bei diesen Prismen wichtig ist und die Nachteile gegenüber Porroprismen korrigiert. Das Bild ist sehr schön und klar mit gutem Kontrast und akkuraten Farben. Das Sehfeld ist ausreichend groß. Die Naheinstellgrenze ist wirklich gut, wenn man am Okular den Hebel auch noch auf Near stellt kommt man auf 0,7m ran. 3.) Vergleich mit Swarovski Habicht 7x42 Man mag sich nun fragen, wie schlägt sich so ein modernes Monokular im Vergleich zu einer fast dreißig Jahre alten „Edeloptik“. Kurz: Das Swarovski ist immer noch besser, sprich, kontrastreicher, plastischer (möglicherweise auch Aufgrund der Bauart) eventuell auch etwas schärfer und vergrößert etwas mehr. Das einzige, wo das Pentax das Swarovski echt schlägt ist bei den chromatischen Aberrationen, die sind aber auch nur minimal beim alten Glas, bzw. bei der Naheinstellgrenze. Das war zu erwarten, es ist aber wirklich kein riesiger Unterschied, ich würde sagen das Pentax ist vielleicht ca. 5-10% schlechter was den Bildeindruck angeht, angesichts der Größe und des Preises eigentlich eine sehr tolle Leistung! Ich habe noch versucht, ein Vergleichsbild zu machen mit dem Smartphone (Galaxy A52), dort kann man sich selbst ein Bild machen Abschließend kann man sagen, dass das Pentax für alle Personen die ideale Wahl ist, die wirklich leicht unterwegs sind, aber nicht auf ein hochwertiges Bild verzichten wollen. Angesichts des Preises, der vielleicht auch noch fällt, und der gebotenen Qualität kann man wirklich nicht jammern und daher fällt auch die Entscheidung -> ***** Wenn Ihnen diese Rezension weitergeholfen hat würde ich mich sehr über die Betätigung des "Nützlich" Buttons freuen!

Es una gozada, cabe en una mano, no pesa nada. Vivo frente a la Ría de Bilbao y veo las regatas, los barcos que entran al astillero a repararse, puedes ver todos los detalles que al ojo se le escapan. Y pille también el adaptador para macro, y eso ya es vicio, me encanta ver hojas de plantas enfermas. Todo es mucho más interesante bajo el microscopio. Lo volvería a comprar una y mil veces. Tiene una óptica muy buena.

If, as I do, you have a moderate visual impairment and you are looking for a monocular which works exceptionally well when you have your glasses on, this is it; the eye point is very high! Although it is not especially powerful, the magnification is more than sufficient for me to read hymns etc projected onto 8ft or so screen from some way down a largish church. The monocular also has a close-up setting which gets one just about close enough to read museum labels and look at the details of objects and paintings they are describing. The image is bright and sharp and the monocular is well rather than exceptionally well made; not in the same league as a Pentax camera of old. The 'ever ready' case is a bright idea insufficiently well implemented and doesn't quite work. It is notionally possible to focus the monocular while it is in this, but next to impossible in practice. like others, I do wish the thing came with Lens caps. I keep it in a case which I originally had for an old digital compact camera and that's arrangement works just fine. all in all, much more reliable and predictable to use then magnifying a smartphone camera image.
