It was only $5 to get both the non-contact voltage tester and the contact voltage tester together, so I figured I might as well.The NCVT is great. It has two modes, a high sensitivity mode that can detect voltage as low as 12VAC, and a lower sensitivity mode that needs at least 70V to be detected. This later mode is useful in certain situations. For instance, the 12-1000V mode will pick up noise from cables that obviously don't have AC voltage, such as USB cables; switching to 70-1000V mode will ignore the signal from the USB cable. The flashlight is a nice extra, and it operates separately from the voltage detection. It's waterproof and dustproof and uses ordinary AAA batteries, which can be replaced just by unscrewing the end cap, no tools required.I'm not really sure what I would use the contact voltage tester for. It can detect DC voltage, but only at 36V or higher, far beyond anything I normally use. It also can only detect 4 levels of voltage: 24, 48, 120, and 240V AC and 32, 64, 160, and 330V DC, but there's nothing showing if the voltage is in between. It also doesn't appear to indicate whether the voltage is AC or DC; it will display 3 lights no matter whether it's 120VAC or 160VDC. But for only an extra $5, it's not a bad little tool for quickly checking a receptacle, and you can mount the probes so that you can test outlets with one hand.

I like the Klein Tools NCVT3P more than my Fluke model I’ve used for years. I mean, Fluke is the top dog. But I prefer this Klein because it has two sensitivity settings and a flashlight. The flashlight is not gonna do much but illuminate your small work area using this device. But the dual sensitivity modes are nice! In red mode, you have to pretty much touch a unit or wire carrying power. In blue mode this unit goes super sensitive and starts alarming you already inches from the electrical pathway or source. In blue, you can touch a metal bedroom tabletop style light pretty much anywhere and you’ll get a signal alarm. In red, you need to actually touch the electrical wire carrying current.So I’m loving the two sensitivity modes on this. The quality, well, it’s typical plastic. Design is nice. Takes two AAA Batteries. I do find the end cap has to be seated rather tightly for it to work. A bit concerned about that. Shouldn’t need a hard tightening. But I’m not rough on my tools so I’ll just look at this as an assurance it gets greater moisture and dust repellant of a housing.Recommended.

This is the second Klein Voltage Tester I’ve owned. The first one, an earlier version, was ruined when I left the batteries in it and they corroded. You have to carefully read the instructions and practice with it at the two voltage ranges until you feel comfortable with it and are sure of yourself. It is accurate and works very well. And don’t forget to take the batteries out if you’re not going to use it for awhile.

I have been under harassment and was able to video hot hand towel rack! Just a great tool to have for many jobs.

Ease of use:Klien electrical tester is super easy to use. Two buttons, with one of those buttons being a flash light. Cycles between high and low voltage easily. Would definitely recommend getting if looking for a high quality product at a reasonable price.

Bought this to trace a few sockets and found one to not be working. After some more research we found the socket to be wired from another circuit.
