Everyone needs a stronger emergency light ❤️
Everyone should have a good emergency light. This one is great! If you don’t use it regulate keep the batteries out to prevent oxidation instead put them in your refrigerator till you need them.

Love it!! Very convenient.
Great product! Ordered two. 500 lumens is just perfect. Bright but not TOO bright.I wanted an alternative to my USB powered light bulbs (which are great!). However I have to carry both the portable battery and the bulb w its cord. A lantern is more convenient when I just wanna go to the restroom during an outage. Can sit it wherever.Comparison below. Highest setting for both. Pretty much the same. Lantern as stated is just easier to carry and uses D batteries.

Nice & Bright
Nice bright portable white light for power outage nights! Not too bright and harsh on the eyes so long as you don’t stare straight into it, and bright enough to light a decent size room. It is also well made; don’t feel cheap. The surprise bonus is it has a USB-a port so you can use it as an emergency power source for your small electronics. Highly recommended!

Company pulls a sneaky
Careful, the model has changed but the photos and specs have not been updated. The new model FL458 does not have a slide switch but rather a membrane to push. Also, the run time has dropped from 50 hours to just 15 hours. All LEDs are at the top of the unit and shine down. The old model (FL457) had four on the top and four on the bottom. The new model includes a USB port for charging devices. I would have preferred a USB port to charge the rechargeable batteries I use in the lantern. The new model does look brighter on high than the old model. The low setting on the new model looks about the same as the high setting on the old model. I miss the features of the much older model with the brass or copper battery electrodes. Mirrored back reflector in place of the new white plastic. And now the slide switch. I will keep this new model for the times I need lots of light. But my older models will get the most use during a power outage.

Stan the Man Reviews: The Best of All Hurrican Lanterns.
I did not buy this lantern on Amazon but I have three of them which I picked up, at various times, at Lowe's when they were on sale for about a dollar more than the Amazon price. As far as I am concerned, this is THE lantern for hurricane country down here on the Gulf coast. I guess they sell well too because all the hardware stores seem to have a constant supply of them. They run on four D size batteries which are very secure. To access the battery compartment, you use a dime or small screwdriver to turn unlock type fixed in screws to the unlock position.Behind the main twin LED columns, which are exceptionally bright, there is a metal mirror which does a dandy job of projecting the light from the lantern forward if you are outside and night walking with it. You can also swing the light "tubes" upward and light will then come out of both sides of the tubes. This light is identical to a fluorescent type lantern that was sold before LEDs. I had the fluorescent lantern my dad had given me as a Christmas present and, for some reason, had never opened it but when the LED lantern came out, I gave the fluorescent one to a neighbor and we compared the output. The LEDs seemed as bright or even slightly brighter and will, of course, burn longer on the 4 D batteries. The little amber night light burns for over a week, I think, and it is dandy in motels as a nightlight to find your way to the bathroom. I keep one by the bed at home and switch the night light on when I have to go to the bathroom at night. I provides sufficient light when your eyes are night adjusted. The only down side, if you want to call it that, is that the Hi power and the Low power seem almost the same but, if the low power does make the battery pack last longer I guess that that is a good thing. Both high and low compare favorably to a Coleman butan lantern for camping and to a bright Coleman LED camping lantern I use. I imagine that butane lanterns are almost a thing of the past since the mantles are so fragile and the gas a bit dangerous. If you do live in storm country, you do NOT want to burn candles or oil lampts. In a Cat three hurricane like Ivan, your house would burn like an inferno if you had a fire. LED lights of every kind should have replaced anything with fire by now. I hear that they have revolutionized the third worl sine the battery life is good.I would recommend this lanter for anything you need a lantern or a six volt light for. The only thing it would not be good for was throwing out a high powered beam to search with though it will more than suffice for midnight navigations. The light has less glare than a Coleman camping LED though I like my Coleman too.
