GenTent Generator Running Cover - Universal Kit (Standard, Grey) - for Open Frame Generators

I installed this on a Duromax XP13000HXT Generator. The cover is thick material and seems like it’s high quality. It covers all the essential parts and looks like it’ll hold up very well to the weather when needed.Duromax uses a squared tubular frame which will require you to ‘adapt’ the frame by installing the included mounts to the frame. This involves drilling pilot holes, then using the included screws. I drilled 5/32” holes per the instructions and my first two screws stripped out completely and wouldn’t go in. I went up to a 3/16” bit and didn’t have any other problems.I took my time to carefully go through the motions for installation. I wouldn’t say it was difficult, but I’m glad I set it up ahead of time vs scrambling in a storm.All in all it’s a great addition to my generator to ensure I can have power continuity regardless of the weather conditions outside.

I've tried three different covers that had a flat top. They were difficult to add fuel; and the flat tops eventually sagged allowing water to pool. This unit required more installation; but it was worth it.It looks great; and is easy to add fuel.It is s perfect fit on my Dura.Maxx generator.

Vendor support right up front is excellent offering to look at pictures that I send them so that could offer any critique (if necessary).The tent is made well. I just ordered the see through electrical panel cover and a bag to keep everything in also.Heartily recommended.

These tents come in two sizes, regular and XL. This review is for the regular size. According to the listings, regular size is for generators with perimeters ranging from 76” to 104”, while XL size is for generators with perimeters ranging from 105” to 128”. The perimeter of my Westinghouse WGen11500TFc falls right between these, being closer to the 105”.As you can see in the pictures, the regular tent is too small. The apron sits too high and does not cover the battery and wiring in the lower part of generator’s front. The tent also does not cover the sides of the generator and does not provide any “eaves” area to protect the sides from rain in even the slightest breeze. In fact, the tent’s sides sit tight on the top part of the frame.I ended up returning this tent and will use the XL variety. I still need to install adapters because without them, the XL sits too loosely. When I work it all out, I will post the review for the XL listing.Otherwise, these tents are great. I used one in my previous house with a smaller generator and was happy with it. Sold it with the generator and the house.I was uncertain about the rating. On the one hand, the tent is great and honestly earns all stars. On the other hand, this tent does not really fit my generator. Looking at the listings I would choose the XL variant for the WGen11500TFc. But after ordering it, I received an e-mail asking for my generator model. It seemed a bit too late, but I answered, and was advised to go with the regular size. This was the reason I got this size even though initially I did not intend to. I lost nothing but time thanks to Amazon free returns, but all this trouble is the reason for at least one star off.

So far... It is easy to put on, I have only used it one time with hurricane Milton. I live in the Tampa region when the hurricane came through. I had the generator on my back covered patio 15x30 ft. The wind started whipping through and the power went out at the same time and it's dark. I put the gentent on and it kept the rain off of the vital parts of the generator. The next day the power was still out but the storm had pasted. I moved the generator out of the patio to the natural gas hookup. It was still raining but not hard. It worked fine. I have not had to run it outside of the patio in the middle of a hurricane/storm yet. However, I feel I'm as prepared as I can be with what I have. I did build a temp concrete black wall on one side of my house. So hopefully between the block wall and the tent I will be able to keep the generator running for the next storm. The tent is on the expensive side, however, it does seem to be well built. It worked very well with my Firman Trifuel.

I haven’t had to use it in the rain or snow yet, but I feel very comfortable that it will operate as advertised. It was a very easy installation and I could see how flexible they made this universal version. I am very happy with this product. It can work on square or round posts, various widths and lengths, as well as location of your electric service panel (side, front, back doesn’t matter). I recommend you install it before you need it (hard to read the directions with no power and in the rain), as it will be easy to add the cover once the clamps are pre installed. Or maybe just store it with the cover left on. I wish I had purchased this long ago …
