Quality pairs of wood post swage lags for attaching Stainless Steel wire
This is a good quality kit meant to swage stainless wire to a deck post. You could also use this in any other wood application including affixing to a conveniently located tree if need be.Plenty of videos on line about how to do this--it is simple and the kit includes the proper drill bit and a little wrench to help you along. You will also need a hydraulic crimping tool to properly fasten the screw to the wire.Once attached, the most likely failure is simply having the wood post rot out eventually as these wires are essentially bullet proof in most applications.

Will purchase again!
This product was easy to install and good value when you consider the cost of wood these days. We have now completed 3 projects using wire vs. wood and love it!!

Swages and Screws Well
These screws worked well for me, once I worked out a reasonable process. They look good, swage well, and hold up to repeated threading into wood using a drill. I used a standard hand/lever pump hydraulic swage tool and, out of approximately 50 swaged connections (it was a small job), I had no pull-out failures. The screws were in bags marked R and L for handedness. The set came with one stamped wrench.I highly recommend to anyone doing more than 50 swage connections to invest in a good thin wrench. Realistically, there should be two wrenches included in each set--as you need to alternate tightening the cable at both ends of the cable to avoid twists. Work goes faster with two people adjusting, but with only one wrench, it's a bit of a hassle. The wrench provided is pretty beat up in the jaw at this point. Be aware also that, especially with angled connections as with stair railings, you have to be very careful adjusting the screw to avoid marking up the post.THINGS I LEARNEDOnline, videos show swaging the screws to the cable at both ends and then screwing both ends in for adjustment. This method resulted in a couple failures for me due to measuring inaccuracies. There's not a lot of wiggle room for error in measuring the cable for length. So I modified the approach by using my drill to install the screws in the pilot holes (using paraffin and running the screw in and out a couple times) with a couple threads showing. Then I strung the cable, swaged one end, pulled it tight by hand and cut it to length using the screw at the other end as a guide--then swaged it hand tight. At that point, adjusting was a simple turn or two to tighten the cable at both ends. It worked for me, anyway. Saved a lot of time just by not having to measure or run back and forth to tighten the full length of the screw.
