Q: Will this protect outdoor CAT5e cable from lightning?

Properly installed these should reduce and in some cases eliminate equipment damage from various high-voltage atmospheric situations including lightning. But lightning and wiring and lightning rods and other protection equipment is complicated and should be properly designed and installed to protect critical systems, and these gas-discharge-based units are one good component in a design. Ubiquiti probably has good design materials. These units are an inexpensive way to improve protection, but don't be fooled... Nothing will save typical outdoor WiFi gear from a direct strike, but these can help keep the damage from going further than that. Be sure to use shielded network cable with shielded connectors and ensure the connectors and cable shield are robustly connected -- sometimes the little ground wires break off.

Q: How do you know when the surge is no longer working?

When it won't pass an Ethernet signal. The ESP circuit sacrifices it self when it suppresses the surge.

Excelente

No he notado ningún cambio de Mbps en mi internet, deberían poner una tuerca para ponerle un cable y una hendidura para pasar el cable por delante, yo tuve que buscar la tuerca y hacerle con una lija pequeña una hendidura para el cable. Como recomendación si lo van a instalar en una toma a tierra de casa que sea una independiente, en mi caso que no voy a conectar nada ahí o que el cable sea de un calibre grande para que la corriente fluya bien.

Erdung der Netzwerkinstallation

Nachdem ein Blitzschlag meinen Router, Switche und Heizungssteuerung gekillt hat, war ich auf der Suche nach einer Möglichkeit zur Erdung. Meine Wohngebäude bzw. Hausrat hat zwar bezahlt, aber der Aufwand drumrum war eben nervig. Ich habe mein Netzwerk im Keller an der Gasleitung geerdet. Zusätzlich hängt die Heizung nun noch an einem Überspannungsschutz von Brennenstuhl.Ob das jetzt wirklich alles etwas bringt, kann ich nicht beurteilen. Der Blitzschlag war bisher der Einzige in 30 Jahren.

ضروري استخدامه لحماية منافذ الشبكة من الصواعق او حتى لو احتجت زيادة طول كيبل الشبكة ينفع لهذا الغرض
