Cisco Next-Generation Security Solutions: All-in-one Cisco ASA Firepower Services, NGIPS, and AMP

Compared with the ASA book, I found this to be disappointing, it does cover the Next Gen security features but I found it to be expensive for what it was.

It mostly gets the point across, but you have to reread sections as there is hardly a logical organization to the book. Many of the paragraphs are just smashed up ideas on the particular subject and really don't create a cohesive flow for the chapters. Plus, much of the writing is what I would call "fluff", there are some kernels of wisdom and critical information; but again, you have to hunt for them. Kind of obnoxious to read.

More of a pre-sales type document. Informative if you are deciding which model of ASA to purchase, but of little value if you are configuring one.Nearly all examples use FMC, with few using ASDM. So if you are trying to configure an ASA FirePower module through ASDM, avoid this book.

The book was okay but by installing two big 8350s from scratch with FMC I already knew everything in the book.
