The D2 (ID) production dimension indicates 26.57mm (which just over an inch). Except I measured 5/8". Way off, and there no reason for them to lie or downsize just to fit Schedule 8 ID. But it makes the product more restrictive for Schedule 40, and there is just no reason for that. There is plenty of room to have created a 3/4" opening (ID). Which makes the product unsuitable for my use (unless I decide to drill the opening larger). But it appears to be a solid and well made Union with much deeper threads (and more of them)...unlike most of what's sold on Amazon (Chinese Junk - which don't seem to consistently be able to hold rated pressures).

Had to cut into totally cemented pipework to replace a contact tank assembly. These unions saved time and the requirements to replace a couple of threaded adapters. Would recommend.

This will save a lot of work and extra expense on our property. Easy to install, great price, fast delivery.

Used these to connect Orbit solenoid controlled sprinkler valves. One of these on the sprinkler side of the valve enables the valve to be replaced in the future without having to cut any pipes.
