As a retired management consultant, I was especially impressed with usefulness of the information in this book. The author has obviously "been there, done that," because the material presented can be used to avoid most of the typical start-up and operational mistakes. This book will dramatically improve the odds of being sucessful if the bakery owner will just follow the instructions. Well worth reading.

This book gives you the insight needed to start a bakery and how unstable to business may be. It's good to read through this book if you're thinking of opening a bakery and gives you the pro's and cons.

I am an entrepreneur and a business man. As stated in other reviews, this book offers good common sense which would apply to any retail endeavor. The title using the words "financially successful" mystifies me. There is not a single number in the entire book. It has NOTHING to do with financial evaluation -- cost or profit. There is not even a basic line item type budget as a guideline. It would have been nice to offer industry ratios, expected margins, How do costs break down in this industry. What do economies of scale look like -- 50 pcs VS 1500 pcs per day? Leasing VS buying equipment. What are some expected differences in marketing danishes and donuts as opposed to cakes, pies, or even up scale wedding cakes. -- Nothing to help one truly evaluate or know how one might evaluate an opportunity in this industry. So, my counsel is, if you are not convinced, buy it, it's pretty cheap. If you are wowed and impressed by this book. Do Not attempt this business.
