JUST INCREDIBLE
This book is super touching and is one of the best books ever. The holocaust is super depressing but this book is SO inspiring. As long as there is life, there is hope.

"As long as their is life, there is hope!
This is a wonderful book. I liked Riva's style of writing. I could imagine myself as another child there with her. I've read many books of the horrors inflicted on the Jewish people, and this would be at the top of my list of favorites.I don't want to give things away, so I can't say much...I wish more information had been given at the end of her freedom, reunions, moving to another country and her new life! I become so attached to the author that I want to continue on with her and see her progression in life.May God bless Riva (Ruth) and her family!

4 1/2 Stars
Although this book states that it is for 12 year olds, I, a 29 year old, highly enjoyed it. It is a holocaust memoir about Riva and her life in the ghetto and concentration camps. Riva is only 16 years old, however when her mother is sent to a concentration camp, she becomes mother to her younger brothers. Joined by love, Riva is able to keep the family together for only a short time before she is separated and sent to a labor camp. Riva injures her hand and becomes seriously ill. Miraculously, the camp commandant allows her to leave the camp and meet with an outside doctor. This book is well-written and engaging. The reader comes to care for the family and pulls for their survival. Overall this is a good holocaust memoir, which I would recommend for anyone.

the horror never gets old
I was moved by the what the Jews experienced but saw the little bits of good in people that got them through.

Read the book NOW!
This book made me cry. Honest to God, I couldn't put my kindle down. I realized how lucky I am, I know that some people didn't have the opportunity to do most of the stuff that I do in daily life like go to school or even eat everyday. I think this is a very deep story and would not recommend it for kids younger than 11.

Well written recommended read.
If you appreciate learning & trying to understand this period of war & atrocities, this is an easy read book. Well written so you grasp every horror but short of the gore factor so it doesn't overwhelm the reader. A must read so we never forget what the world allowed to happen for years to millions of people.

Good read
The Cage is a very intriguing book that has alot of emotional values. The holocaust was a huge event that is known world wide and this story should be read by every single person in the world. So thank you Ruth Minsky Sender for telling us your story and letting the world finally get a chance to step in the shoes of a Jewish person during the holocaust.
