Great brush to deal with shedding
Got this for my Asutralian/German Shephard mix, never expected just how much dead fur it would get out! Shedding is down to a fraction of what it was when using generic brushes from my local pet supply store. Highly recommend!

great on plush coat german shepherd, shorter length rake better for flat (stock) coat GS
This rake is very effective for my plush coat German Shepherd. The shorter length rake works best on my typical flat coat GS.

The best of the choices available when I purchased
When the gel handle on my previous rake failed (note: I learned that it's not a good idea to leave it out where the gel can freeze - after enough freeze/thaw cycles, the plastic will fail and the gel will leak out), I bought this and another rake (Internet's Best Durable Tooth Dog Rake) that had a curved rake head that I thought might work better/be more comfortable for the dog. Result: I never use the other rake: it's much less comfortable to hold in my hand and - for reasons I don't understand - it just doesn't remove the hair as well as this rake. This one is definitely worth the addition $1!

Great for this beginner
I have had to learn to do most of the grooming for my Golden Retriever because of the pandemic. Since he has a double coat he needs his undercoat brushed out at least twice a year. This tool was perfect for a beginner in addition to the fact that the gel handle makes it a lot easier for my arthritic hands. I will never pay $75 for the groomer to do what I now can do with this super inexpensive tool!! Note: this tool does not cut his undercoat like the furminator and ones like it, they damage the undercoat and you definitely don’t want that!!

Effective Hair Removal
The medium rake is very effective for undercoat removal. It is comfortable to use. My only criticism of the product is that the junction of the handle and the rake head eventually suffers from material fatigue after lengthy use. However, the value is excellent. Just buy two so you always have one.

Performs far better than expected
Finally found the right tool for the job ! Our long haired "fluffy " Corgi will finally accept having his coat brushed . He hates the metal comb we've been using but seems to have no issue with this" rake.". Performs far better than expected .Slicker and pin brushes were not up to the task of tackling his guard & undercoat combo. The perpendicular handle may have something to do with it as it is much easier to handle .,as well as the tooth spacing and size . Whatever the reason, it has changed grooming from a chore to a pleasure .. I'm glad we ordered this item..Recommend to other people with long haired, dual coated dogs, especially ones that play outside .

Awesome comb
I have a Border Collie and he sheds continuously. This comb is terrific. If you can get yourself to use it daily it will only take two or three minutes. I keep one in the car and one at home. We go hiking a lot and sometimes I'll use it before or after the hike. I like it so much that I bought a few extra. One I gave away to a lady who owns two Huskies and she loves it.

Potentially-toxic Liquid in Handle
I hardly ever give anything this low a rating, but there's something you should know about this rake: my puppy, who is not one of those particularly chew-focused puppies, happened to playfully bite the handle of this rake while getting used to being brushed. Her tiny puppy tooth easily punctured the handle, and a gooey substance I can only guess is liquid silicone began oozing out. If a dog happened to get a hold of one of these rakes and get alone time with it, there's a very good chance the dog would ingest the mystery substance, which leaks out so readily following a puncture to the handle. And then, who knows? According to one source, liquid silicone ingestion can lead to kidney failure in dogs. What's more, once there is a small puncture in it, the handle will continue to seep this substance indefinitely. I had placed the rake on a piece of paper on a high shelf to remind myself to come back and review it, and it has continued to seep more goo all over the piece of paper. This makes even a tiny puncture potentially a larger threat if the dog might come around later, see liquid around the brush, and lick it up.And finally, why does a dog brush even need this sort of thing? What planet were Conair's designers living on when they came up with the idea to fill the handle of a dog rake with liquid goo?
