An Invaluable Resource for Deepening Faith
The ESV Study Bible has been an incredible addition to my spiritual journey. This study Bible is not just a book; it’s a comprehensive resource that has deepened my understanding of Scripture in ways I never thought possible. The detailed study notes, cross-references, and extensive commentary provide rich insights into the biblical text. Each book introduction and the numerous articles on theology, ethics, and biblical history are exceptionally well-written and informative. The maps, charts, and illustrations are also incredibly helpful for visual learners like myself. What I appreciate most is the clarity and readability of the ESV translation. It strikes a perfect balance between accuracy and readability, making it accessible for both new believers and seasoned scholars. The quality of the binding and paper is also top-notch, ensuring that this Bible will last for years to come. If you’re looking for a study Bible that offers depth, clarity, and a wealth of resources, the ESV Study Bible is the perfect choice. It has truly enriched my study of God’s Word and has become an indispensable part of my daily devotions. Highly recommend!

The binding is excellent. The paper really is excellent
First the external. The gold gilt are very well done. The faux leather along the binding worries me a little, but we shall see how it holds up after a year. The binding is excellent. The paper really is excellent. Came totally unscathed in the box. The tone and feel of the faux leather is really quite handsome and nice. Now the important stuff. I am deeply impressed by the quality of the study notes. I have not even read the essay parts. I just worked through the first five chapters of Genesis and in Matthew I finished up to the end of the Sermon on the Mount. The depth and detail of review, even the word choice, is the best I have seen. I saw a new depths to the beatitudes that I have not heard from any pastor. And in Genesis, they correctly and with very good balance and nuance addressed the linkage of the word that shows up as 'desire' in the curse and when God was talking about sin's 'desire' for Cain. The original (Hebrew?) word only shows up in those two places in the entire Bible (as far as I know). Well done!! I always thought that the english word, without the nuance shown here, made no sense. The idea of Eve's desiring her husband being a curse use to always confuse me. But instead, the original word is translated in the curse as 'desire contrary to your husband'. The idea is that man's sinfulness causes men to be tempted to dominate their wives and wives to be tempted to control their husbands through manipulation. These two themes of broken relationship repeat themselves so pervasively in our culture. The historical details are also amazingly deep and make you think you bought an archeological study Bible. There are also Extensive maps on not just the eras of history, but down to battle sequences of the cities that were attacked by the Assyrians, for instance, on their way to confronting Hezekiah (before the angel slew 185,000 of them the next morning). I feel I have about 10 Bible study books in this Bible and I get excited to read each chapter in anticipation of finding new things I had never seen before. BRAVO!!!!! Best Bible I have ever owned. Even better than Kenneth Wuest! (and that had no notes, just perfectly rendered English to Greek that kept attention on all the pronoun and verb linkages with amazing clarity).

Helpful
I've not read this Bible cover to cover. I find the maps and historical background helpful while staying true to the written word.

Beautiful, but print still too small for old eyes.
Bible is beautiful, but print still too small for hubby’s failing eyes. Had to return only for that reason. I’d recommend it for “good” eyes.

The Best
The bible was a gift to my fiance and it came in perfect condition. Crossway Study bibles are the best because of their footnotes and how in depth it allows you to read the word. If you’re ever looking for a study bible this is the way to go!

The best Bible I've owned to date
I have grown up on King James version moving to the NIV but after learning about the spectrum of Bible translations for the best accuracy the ESV seems to be one of the closest to word for word translation. The NASB seems to be the 1st or close to to word for word then ESV and NIV is a thought for thought translation. The NASB seems seems to be more difficult to find at least in the features I seek. ESV seems to have more options. I have the ESV in different covers and this is one of my favorite with the cross on the front. (I also have the navy which is a plain cover and the Olive Celtic which is really a nicely designed cover) This is a large print Bible. The font is 9 pt for the Bible test and 7 pt for the notes. It has lots of notes to the text and other articles/essays in the back that includes a lot of useful information in one place. It certainly provides information that creates the desire to expand and confirm the information provided. The is NOT a Bible that red letters the words of Christ if that is of importance to someone. The cover is durable and of good quality. As mentioned I have this in the Navy, this Celtic Walnut and Olive with a Celtic cross which is more favored but this Walnut Celtic is a traditional color and a very nice edition to the collection. The ESV has become my go to translation keeping them in various places whenever the urge to study the word occurs. This is my study Bible of choice but still seek to get additional insight from other translation study Bibles. The NASB and NIV I have are both Zondervan and interestingly the notes are very similar. This ESV has some greater detail and differently worded notes. If you're seeking a good study Bible this one I highly recommend.

Beautiful
An absolutely beautiful Bible. I love being able to use the references to help understand the word easier. It arrived well packaged in a sturdy box which shows thought and care was invested to protect it in shipping. This is much heavier than my wife’s which is expected because of all of the extra info. Pages are light so I feel care should be taken with this. Overall a beautiful Bible. I am looking forward to learning more and becoming closer to Jesus as I read this.
