It is working on Acer Aspire R (Spin 5) and I'm pretty sure it will work on other laptops
It is just adapter and same pin out with same size (only low profile). Pro was only $2.00 so, I ordered for testing. Hey, it is working fine with my Acer Aspire R (Spin 5, 471T). I'm pretty sure it will work on other laptops also but I can't guarantee. I also checked read and write (about 20MB Write and 56M Read) but it depends on SD card I guess.

Re-inserting card after waking from sleep mode
MacBook Pro will be un-mounting the card from the system after waking from sleep. Even the card is still inside the slot. Therefore you have to pull it out and re-inserting it after sleeps otherwise the system will not recognise it. I have tried re-mounting it in the Disk Utilities app, but it fails.

Not sure why so many bad reviews as on my 15" 2015 Macbook Pro Retna screen WORKS!
True it won't go all the way in but sticks out about 4-5 mm and for $2 can't complain! If you are looking to add more space and you have a 15" MBP this is great!

No es el tamaño apropiado para una Mac Book Air.
Information was missing to know if it was the right size for a Mac Book Air. He has 3mm left over.

Works as advertised
Works for what it advertised, however I had to buy both models to see which one would fit my mac as it's mid 2012 retina. Hope you can add more information so other customers can choose better.

Not the Nifty Drive of old ...
Bought two Nifty drives (enclosures) for a non-retina MacBook Pro 13. I’ve used them since their Kickstarter days, but these were terrible. Tried multiple storage options, 64, 128 and 200 Gb. None worked, each drive was corrupted when used in the Nifty enclosure. I was able to fix two of three using the (large) SanDisk enclosure that shipped with the drives. I shouldn’t be surprised, since the Niftys are now $2 from Amazon. The Chinese clones are just as bad. Don’t waste your money, as these are not the quality products that we saw from the team in Manchester. Sadly, the end of an era.

Flexible, semi-permanent storage for your MacBook Pro
For anyone looking to expand their storage on their unibody MacBook Pro, the MiniDrive is is worth consideration. I was impressed with the precision machining of the MiniDrive: its alignment and colour is matched perfectly with the MacBook Pro chassis. Leaving SD cards hanging out the slot often risked disconnection I found; the microSD card attached via the MiniDrive has stayed connected without issue so far.

Must Have
This is the perfect tool for my MacBook Pro M-12'. I combined a SanDisk 200GB SDXC card with this for a great Time Machine. This is not some purchase, but a wise investment. Just make sure you quickly insert the Nifty or you may experience a Read-Only issue.

Second drive for Mac!
My MacBook Pro 15 Retina (2012) was running out of space and I didn’t want to go to the expense of upgrading the ssd for some extra space. Enter this Nifty MiniDrive and a decent 128gb micro SD card, all for about £30.Whilst this Nifty is not specifically designed for the 2012 MBP, it sits in the card slot fine, about 1mm inset from the laptop body, which I can live with. It can be removed, with a custom bent paper clip, but I just leave mine in!Install is straight forward, as long as you have selected show all drives in Disk Utility. Only then can you easily format it properly, so it mounts fine every time. (I didn’t have all drives showing initially, so it took me longer than it should have to set it up!) Only slight gripe is that it does not unmount/eject when your MBP goes to sleep, so you’ll find that your battery will be depleted faster when MBP is sleeping. Solutions to this are to shut down MBP down, rather than sleep, eject it before you put MBP to sleep (in which case you’ll also have to remount it when you wake up MBP) or get a 3rd party app to do the unmount/remount quietly in the back ground. All in all, happy with it’s performance and good to see that what started off as a crowd funding project made it to full retail and solved a problem, which was created by Apple not using standardised SD card slots in it’s MBPs!

it didn't work on my mac, Update: after a day yes!
I cannot say that it is Nifty Minidrive FOR Macbook PRO 15 completely fault, I know there has been few problems regarding to the mounting of any sd card in this slot.So to start with, the slot in my mac didn't work properly, I tried blowing and finally I cleaned it with a piece of kitchen paper with a bit of alcohol and, it work! so now any SD card from camera with pictures works just fine. Then I decided to buy this Nifty and add a microSD 64GB SanDisk. When I tried, it just doesn't show up. I attempted quite a few times and still, nothing. If in a while it shows in my desktop, I will let you know.UPDATE! It works, after cleaning it I left it in place, and the day after, when I turned my mac on...... it was there.

Works great and well worth the effort.
Nothing to be said, this is brilliant. works on my macbook pro 2012 13" non retina display, it will also work on 15" macbook pro 15" with retina display.I placed a 200GB microSD card inside to give me 200gb on board storage. Works perfectly.Would I recommend? 100%

Wrong design.
One time introduced in the laptop, due to erroneous design with a size too close to the laptop slit, it results impossible its extraction without using a metal too (e.g., a screwdriver) ruining forever the notch of the Nifty Minidrive. The best solution is just to buy from Competitors any of their correctly engineered models.
