Foolishly walked into tall grass a couple of days ago. Next morning woke with a gillion chigger bites (turned out to be 4) behind my knee, itching like crazy. My wife zapped them 20-30 seconds each, twice, and the itch stopped completely & didnt come back. Looked back and discovered we bought 2 of them 10 years ago; bought more for both our kids. They work just as well for mosquito bites. Cant recommend enough. Review: Absolutely amazing - I bought one of these for myself and kids as I myself am a huge mosquito magnet, and my bites last and itch for a good week. I have been using it for 2 months now and can't believe how well it works. When you apply to the bite and get closer to 30 seconds it will itch like crazy and sometimes feel a bit burny but it never burns you. Then it gives you instant itch relief for hours. Just use again when itching starts. My old routine was to alcohol and hydrocortisone my bites over and over in between scratching but now I do none of that. I don't even feel the need to scratch my bites. My mother in law tried mine and was an instant believer. Then so did my mom and one of my friends and they were so pleased I ordered one for all of them. So thankful for this amazing gadget, it changed my life!!!

I bought 8 therapiks for Christmas presents
I used this on a wasp sting. My ankle and leg had been swollen from a sting for 10 days and it hurt and itched and swelled up terribly. Then I got a second sting, this time on the knee and my knee swelled up, turned red and hurt like heck for a day, until I happened upon the Therapik and thought, I have this for mosquito bites, will it work on wasp stings? So I put the tip on the site of the sting on my knee, and immediately the pain and itching disappeared. about 3 or 4 hours later it started to itch a little, so I applied it again, for a little less time. After using it maybe 3 times total, the swelling was down and redness gone and no more itching. I could use my knew again. As a science teacher, I am guessing that the heat denatures the venom. I had kept it on the spot for a few seconds (as instructed). It was not uncomfortable. I am wondering if this might be useful to use after a lyme tick is removed, for infections, and what else. Of course heat is known as the great healer, and this is just such a handy and effective way to apply it. I see folks telling of having it work on brown recluse bites. It is worth a try on any venom. What do you have to lose but pain and suffering. These were much appreciated as gifts. It does take a D cell battery. I am so delighted to find this simple effective remedy for insect and spider stings and bites.

Works - but not always instantly
It's been a really bad season for mosquitoes. In looking for alternative remedies, I found this product, and decided to give it a try. It really does work -- with one big caveat, noticed by both me and my wife: it often takes a few repeated treatments, over maybe 30 minutes. It's hard to find a fresh bite until it welts up, and at that point it seems that the first treatment doesn't do much. Hold for 20-25 seconds until you feel the heat (but before you actually slightly burn yourself). Then I have to repeat that 2-3 times within a few minutes, and that often stops the itch. Sometimes it takes a few more treatments every few minutes. So far, it has almost always worked -- compared to having to put up with the itch for sometimes 3-4 days, this is a good product. Scientifically it also makes sense: the heat denatures the protein in the venom that causes the itching reaction, but I think getting the heat to penetrate through fresh swelling at the site of the bite takes a bit of patience and repeated treatments. Would also say that it can be tricky to use when you can't really reach the bite, or if the bite is in a tricky spot (e.g. I did not try to treat a bite on the very top edge of my ear). Still, a decent product. A bit bigger than I thought it would be based on the picture, so it's not really pocket-sized as I was hoping for.

Finally, something that works on No See Um bites!!!
I had no idea what to expect but given I suffer miserably itchy bites and NOTHING helps, I was game. First off, this little gizmo does not come with the 9V battery, so make sure to buy one. Secondly, it took a few tries to get the hang of it and just how long to hold the Therapik on for. I found that the heat was a great substitute for interrupting the scratch/itch cycle. If it started itching, I'd wait the 60 seconds and do it again. This thing is a miracle worker in my book. I could hug the inventor. Normally it takes 3 weeks for a No See Um bite to stop itching and heal. This thing stopped the itching and increased the healing time dramatically. I also found that once it reached an uncomfortable temp (around 22 seconds) it didn't really get worse until 35 seconds. For some bites, I had to reapply multiple times over a few days but I was happy to do it given it works SO well. For me, this is a game changer.

Didn't work for me
This didn't really work for me for mosquito bites. I've used the "hot water" method of suppressing itch from poison ivy. Running very hot water over poison ivy rash (AFTER the poison oil has been washed off and the rash appears and becomes itchy) is the best way to stop the itch. The very hot water suppresses the histamines for 6 - 8 hours. But, for me, hot water or the heat from this unit doesn't suppress the itch from a mosquito bite. I have a friend who says they work for her. So, maybe it depends on the person.

Not useful, effective, nor durable.
This product sucks. It doesn't work as well as a heat pad or simply hot water in a ziplock. The heated area is too small, and it also gives a burn on skin because there is no signs of how long/short it should be done. To top it all, 1 of them broke in less than 30 days. I don't recommend this product at all.

Helps with the bites to refuse swelling and itch

This product is great. No debate on that. The only thing better is the customer service that operates behind it. I had an issue with the delivery of my order and “Andrew” stepped in and stepped up to make sure that I was taken care of. In these days of uncertainty it is nice to know that a vendor cares about the customer experience and makes things right regardless of how it unfolded…. Oh… did I mention that the product itself is awesome!!

It worked great for some mosquito bites, ok for other mosquito bites, and then a few months later the weather changed and a different species of mosquito was more dominant and it actually made those bites more itchy rather than less. I also wished the instructions to not press it into your arm were a little bit more advertised. It feel s like the natural thing to do when using it so I wish it had a guard tip or spacer so you could place it against your arm and not have to worry if you are pressing to hard by accident.

This is awesome! I get bit by everything and it works FAST to stop itching. Don't go overboard and use it too many times on each bite though.

This didn’t work at all, waste of money.
