Our's works for Mom and 9 yr old
I have used this egg cracker many times since Christmas. Only twice has it dropped half the shell in, but it was it was very easy to remove, no teeny shards to chase around the bowl or pan. My 9 yr old son has also used it with no issues. Other than the two times previously mentioned it worked perfectly. It's better at cracking an egg than I am, Previously I had to look for those almost invisible pieces of shell that are not fun to find in an egg or baked good. Yuck crunchy. I am just one of those people that has issues cracking eggs, lol, embarrassing. I would have just done without it and kept picking out bits of shells, but my 9 yr old is grossed out by raw egg shell and he likes to cook and bake and this would help to do so more independently. He is so proud of doing things all by himself. I don't know why others have had problems?? We place the egg so that it is horizontal in the holder, and then squeeze the handle. To push the shell out, I hold it over my trash can and push the shell out with my finger or spoon. I swish it around in soapy dish water and rinse and let air dry. I wonder if the size of egg matters? I always use Grade A Large Eggs from the supermarket. I have not used the egg separator yet as I haven't needed it. There is a demonstration of this tool on youtube by a man called the RussianHacker? or something like that. He isn't sponsered by them he just does reviews, and fun "hack" videos. I hope the people that have purchased this and were disappointed and have not returned it, give it another try and have better luck. However, it is possible that there is poor quality control? and they just got bad ones. In which case that is not okay. I am just happy to say the one we got actually works. If you don't have any problems cracking eggs(and aren't grossed out by the raw eggs), I don't know why you would bother buying this in the first place. I wish I could be one of those people that crack eggs one handed directly to the bowl with no shells.

Not Great, But Still Helps I Guess
I got this because I was sick of my bf cracking the eggs on the counter or near the stove and making a mess everywhere, so I showed him this to crack it right over the pan. It works for the most part, but be warned that it CAN still get shells in it from time to time. Now I just have him use this cracker thing to crack them in a bowl first, look for any shells (easier than trying to dig them out of a pan while they start to cook), and then finally dump the bowl of eggs into the pan. Not ideal, but still better than cracking right on the counter I guess. Oh, and he tried to crack on the side of the pan too. That was an even bigger mess. It just drips down the side and starts to burn on the stove. Why is cracking eggs such a pain?? Most people cannot crack them professionally. So I guess this is better than nothing, but still not great. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

A useful addition to your kitchen if cracking eggs is difficult (and it's not messy, either!)
I purchased one of these for my mother, who has unfortunately lost the use of one of her hands. We recently gave it a try to see how - and if - this would work.First, I gave it a try, putting the egg gently between the two open plastic circles, holding it as shown (so that the blade from below is in position to cut into the egg. It worked as it was supposed to, the egg falling to the dish that I had positioned below. Now, the ultimate test. My mother picked up another egg with her usable hand, placing it between the circles, and gave the handles a squeeze. This time, the egg partially cracked, with the egg not falling out and down below to the waiting dish.I realized that the egg wasn't quite as well positioned as when I had used it. It's extremely important to, as a hockey player or fan would say, center it! The great aspects are that the squeeze to get it to work was modest and it does work when the egg is positioned correctly, bringing the possibility of making eggs back to those in the place where my mother is. Two additional things to keep in mind: (1) There is an attachment for when one's interested in only having the egg whites. This attachment was, by default, attached, and was something that my mother probably couldn't have detached on her own. (2) Be wary that there's a blade. I didn't feel it, but I'd imagine that it's quite sharp.

Works great, if you use it right
Works great, if used properly. You have to understand that one squeeze of the handle performs two separate actions, so squeeze s-l-o-w-l-y.When you start to squeeze, the flat lever on top pushed the egg down onto the metal blades on the bottom of the egg. Exert a constant moderate pressure as you squeeze. The egg will crack open.Next, after the egg has cracked open on the bottom, the two metal blades on the bottom will spread apart, opening the shell, as you continue to squeeze. If you just make one hard squeeze, you are likely to crush the egg and make a big mess everywhere -- broken yolks, shell chips in the egg, etc.I also rinse the cutter blades under the faucet after EACH egg is cracked, just to make sure that no small shell fragments are clinging to the blades. So far, all my eggs (about 3 dozen) have cracked perfectly. If the tool were more sturdy, I would have given it a 5th star. On the other hand, if it were sturdier, I would probably have used a heavier hand when squeezing, crushed all my eggs, and written a bad review.

OMG it really works !!!!
I am so tickled with this gadget as it REALLY does work!Because I do a fair bit of research before I buy anything I am rarely dissapointed but it's also not often I am tickled by a product. Not only does this work it's kinda fun. Before buying I read reviews but I also watched videos (NOT- produced by the company -) that had people actually using it so I was very confident when it arrives it would work BUT it still delighted me that it does. If you are hesitant I highly recommend investing a few minutes watching the videos online.I'm one of those people that always struggles when trying to crack an egg, I generally make a mess and I really dislike getting the slimey uncooked white on my hands. So this solved problem one !AND separating eggs is even worse for me cuz you just can't avoid getting the slimey white on you. Yuck! So problem #2 solved!AND of course there is the shells in the bowl problem and there are NONE when you use this.Problem #3 solved !!!!!I saw somewhere it claims to make peeling hard boiled eggs easy but I have not tried that and it's not something I am looking to solve .It's also built of a much more durable solid plastic than I expected. Don't be shy with it. A firm squeeze gets you th best results every time.Highly recommend!

If that is the best I can expect please refund my money
Mickey Oberman1 second agoI have had mine for over a year now.I can honestly say I get as many failures with broken yolks as I do successes.I also get small chips of the shell along with the egg.I follow the instructions to the letter.I have also tried the eggs at different temperatures from fridge cold to room temperature to slightly warmed in warm water. If I am doing something wrong please correct me.If not perhaps my EZCracker is defective. Please replace it.If that is the best I can expect please refund my money.Mickey Oberman [email protected] 416-491-9429

Works on Large Eggs
Cheap plastic. It works on eggs up to large. I’d did not work on Jumbo eggs, which is what I buy. I bought it more as a test.
