Kids to the Rescue!: First Aid Techniques for Kids

School nurse approved!
I am a school nurse, and I wanted to do a bulletin board with something a little different than asthma, nutrition, correct hand washing technique. I am thrilled with this book! Children will be able to understand the message and learn some basic first aid. Unsure how many kids will see my bulletin board in this time of Covid and especially since I think it is only a matter of time before schools will be closed again. Think I might keep a few to give as prizes.

Very superficial - better selections available.
This book would be better than having no first aid book or reference at all - but, not much better. Topics covered include: nose bleed, something in eye, bleeding, broken bones, dog and snake bite, poisoning, insect sting, chemical burn in eye, choking, electric shock, burns, unconsciousness, clothes on fire, and dialing 911. There is also a quiz in the back. The number of topics covered are OK, but the information is often incomplete. Three examples: 1) The section on bee stings omits any discussion on finding and removing the bee's stinger without accidentally getting more bee venom in the wound. 2) The section on dog bites omits any information on how to avoid getting bitten. 3) The section on broken bones has a grand total of 53 words of advice. In fact most sections of the book fail to mention ways to avoid injury, or methods of care that are included in other children's 1st aid books. Although this book is inexpensive - I feel it is not a good buy. For a little more money I highly recomend "The Safety Book for Active Kids", which is sold by Amazon.

Pretty good book.
Good for younger kids. Most is common sense but presented in a good way for kids. It also hit some points I would not have thought to tell my son, especially if he is helping someone else. I would definitely recommend it, and already have to a friend of mine. We used it for homeschooling.
