I have a motorhome - coach diesel pusher The on board compressor takes for ever ( 20 - 30 min per tire ) to go from 100 to 115 - 450 ?

You really need a compressor that's rated for a higher pressure. You're looking to operate at the maximum edge of the pressure rating. It won't blow up per say, but it's not going to be as fast as you need. Look at Max psi closer to 200 psi with 100% duty cycle.

Would it work if i replace the 12v clamps with longer wires / cigarette lighter (male)? so, i don't have to pop the hood open.

Willie, they're not full of crap, you've just been lucky and haven't run your compressor to a high enough PSI to draw full load amps (it will draw very few amps at 0 psi and max amps at max psi), or you've put a bigger fuse in your cigarette lighter, so you can draw amps until the wires melt under your dash and maybe catch on fire. If this compressor was safe to run on a lighter plug, it would come with the option just like the smaller viair compressors. If you're okay with the risk of a fire under your dash, and you wouldn't mind re-wiring anything that shares the routing through the dash with the lighter socket wires, then give it a try. You can extend the wire(s), but do it to the battery with about 10ga wire and a quick disconnect that insulates the battery end. Napa, or your local knowledgeable auto parts guy, can show you what you need if you give them this description. You can keep the clamp for the ground and find a nice bolt or bracket, then wire your hot near that. 10ga might be a little light on paper, but since you aren't combining it with other wires you won't overheat it. I would pick up an inline fuse (all-weather) and put it very close to the battery in case something shorts your wire, the fuse will blow instead of killing your battery or catching on fire. FYI, if you do make a cigarette plug adapter, the high resistance in the small wires under your dash will reduce the power available to your compressor so it will run slower (all that power reduction goes into heating the wire bundle in your dash; pure physics, and a bad idea).

Can i run this off a car jump starter pack?

James,We recommend that you run our compressors with constant 13.8V, meaning a recharging car battery (vehicle on) or a converter/power supply for the compressors to operate as specs. Running our compressors with a jump starter or stand alone battery may not give the compressor the voltage that they may need. With low voltage, the compressor will be starving for power and create high amp draw or worst damage the compressor.
