Q: How to match correct file size to chain? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's a handy little tool. You measure your chain and bar with it then you know what file to get and you can gauge unmarked files with it. Absolutely necessary for someone with a herd of chainsaws.

Q: Does anyone make these out of metal?

I didn’t find any made from metal. There were other brands that were identical just different colors.
