Convenient....I use these in my c3 hob and in the back of my fluval flex 15 filter

So easy to clean and use because already in the bag.

Like with any filter, these do need to be changed often. Depending on the cleaning i'm doing, these can last up to 2 weeks without cleaning. I will usually replace them than trying to clean them. But that's my personal choice.Some misconceptions people have about filters.1. Do not change all the media filters within the filter at the same time. This will keep the beneficial bacteria.2. Use a filter rated for twice the size of your aquarium. Example if you have a 10 gal aquarium then you need a filter system for a 20 gal. aquarium.3. Do Not over crowd your aquarium. With a filter that is rated for twice the size of your aquarium, you can keep a couple more fish than you would be able to otherwise. Remember 1 inch of fish (grown size) for each gal. of water. Take substrate and other decoration into consideration when determining the amount of fish you can have.4. Goldfish are pooping machines. They also get to be 4 in. or bigger. Do not keep in a 1 or 2 gal fish bowl. 1 goldfish needs about 5 gal. of water.There is a lot of information on the web if your not sure about what you can have and what you need.

Purchased these a few times for my Fluval C3 filter that I've been using for a year .Unfortunately they clog up fast; although they may be efficient at cleaning; In my opinion these dual density pads don't work with this filter. Within a week of replacing them the maintenance indicator pops up, and they have to be replaced again - when that happens the flow is reduced noticeably, since water chooses the path of least resistance it then goes up to the portion where the bio-screen/trickle portion of the filter is which feed by unfiltered water to begin with also clogs up pretty quickly, once these pads clog up it just speeds up the process of that portion of the filter.As an FYI - once the pad is clogged you can remove the fine filter portion of ( it comes off easily), and reuse the coarser side after rinsing it in aquarium water and continue to use it; of course trading off fine water polishing for longevity.

Although this filter (c3) has many parts to buy and change these units are very nice. Granted they are just little pieces of foam, but at 5 dollars it was great finding them here, and not paying 12 bucks. You can get them other places online, but they are more expensive. As for stores like PetSmart, no they don't carry the C3, C4, any of the Fluval products. Very irritating. I suggest you order them way before you need them, because you won't find them without waiting for shipping. Order at least 2 at the 5 dollar price, because the c3 filter uses these very quickly, and they are hard to clean out, or reuse.EDIT*These foam pieces rinse out a few times with little fish debris in them, but after a while they start breaking apart, and becoming flimsy. Esp if you use hot water to rinse them.Save some money and buy Marineland Rite Size Filter pads. They last forever, and can be cut to fit perfect in any of the C3, C4 etc models. They collect just as much debris at a fraction of the cost and rinse better and last longer. OR you could buy these over and over and keep throwing five dollars plus shipping away.

Because of the nice 'add-on' pricing, I decided to try out these instead my usual buy of loose carbon that I then stuff media bags myself for the (InTank) media rack in my BioCube. I had read on some website that AquaClear/Fluval activated carbon was some of the best on the market, and so far, I have to say I agree with those claims. My water is clearer than it has ever been with the loose carbons I've bought. Obviously this pre-packed stuff is more convenient than stuffing your own bags, and the price flat out can't be beat so long as this remains an add-on item.If you have a smaller system that you can fit one of these packs into I'd highly recommend this brand of carbon. Seeing how completely crystal clear the water in my tank is now (I didn't realize how NOT crystal clear it was until using this carbon) I will continue to use this brand exclusively. **Note: carbon only makes your water clear and takes away the fishy smell of the tank; it's a polisher, not a cleaner. Only water changes will clean a tank.

Same Fluval quality as similar fluval filter media. Bought these for my 406 after realizing the price on these was substantially lower than the recommended ones for the 406. At the price you can use multiple of these and still pay less than the very slightly larger bags that are recommended. Buy these instead of the yellow, 20 gram larger bags.Update: the bigger bags are back from sellers with better prices. But these still work well. I use two per side, 4 total for a basket. Would still recommend.

Do their job, good price, recommended to replace every 4-6 weeks by Fluval. Just a warning, each filter is individually bagged but with a hole punch hole in the bags so carbon does leak out a little. Mine was shipped with a bottle of seachem prime and some other stuff all loose in a large box with no air/bubble filler and the bottle had smooshed open the box of these and there was a coating of carbon on everything. Individual filter bags were intact, just due to the holes there will be some escape. Use with my fluval C3 for my freshwater seaclear 29 gallon show tank.
