Necessary to read to fully understand DAD. I was skeptical of agile especially I thought it is not somehow applicable to SAP implementation or sustainment however, there are strategies we can really apply

I'm a director of tech support for a software products company in the electronic payments industry. Our industry is rife with legacy systems, regulation, domain complexity, and numerous other features that have influenced our mostly traditional, big requirements up front approach to software delivery. I'm a proponent of Lean that recently finished my MBA and I was looking for reading material on the Agile Enterprise so that I can act as a change agent in my department and firm.This book is essential reading for managers in the software space, IMO. Scott and Mike manage to describe the principles and practices of DAD in a manner that does not come across as evangelistic like so many Agile books and proponents do. They are frank about the complexities of modern business and acknowledge the shortcomings and the advantages of both Agile and traditional methods. Their DAD framework is customisable with excellent advice and practical examples on how to implement it in the real world. They readily acknowledge that 'one size does NOT fit all' and that the same goes for Agile. It's clear they speak from years of experience and are experts in this domain.If you want a book that describes both principles and practices, gives you guidance, options and suggestions without evangelistic and dogmatic decrees, then this is the book for you. It covers software delivery in an end to end fashion and will find a permanent place on my virtual bookcase.

For years, critics have been highlighting the biggest weakness of Scrum and other agile methods -- their "lightweight" approach to methodology and governance will not be accepted in most large corporations, especially those with strict regulatory-driven (and similar) governance frameworks. Some agile practitioners take a naive approach and say "we don't need managers, financial forecasting, architecture review boards, and other unnecessary restrictions because we are being agile." While this sounds great in theory, it doesn't work in the real world.Ambler and Lines, in this new book, close the gap found by the critics and present a practical structured approach to agile projects that gives the predictability and control required by governance frameworks, while still allowing the team to be responsive to change within the framework. It is a reasonable balance between the two competing priorities.I found the book to be easy to read, well-structured, methodical, and enlightening. With the authors' experiences running or coaching agile teams in large corporate environments around the world, the book addresses the most common barriers experienced by teams trying agile for the first time in a large organization. All-in-all, it was a VERY GOOD investment of my time and money.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to everyone -- whether new to agile, or an experienced practitioner -- who wants to know how to make agile work in complex organizations.

We are looking to move to more of a DAD process and this book allowed me to research and stay ahead of the game. The fact it is an ebook allowed for greater flexibility in reading at my leisure, wherever I wanted to.

This book is really good. Was required for one of my Software Engineering courses and will be a great reference for the future. While the information is really good and well described, the book can be a bit dry. I would recommend anyone using Agile to get this book. Also has lots of information on DAD modeling which is uncommon in Agile books.

No, this isn't 50-shades of grey, but if you are doing agile in the enterprise, you'll need to read this book first. You will discover the lessons either way, but recommend that you go in eyes wide open.I'm a lover of the agile method, but the enterprise challenges need to be addresses. Love this book.
