No more hot spot in the center of the pad, rim trigger not the same as other Roland mesh pads
I own a lot of Roland triggers and *all* of the mesh-head pads have a so-called "hot spot" in the dead center of the pad, except this one. This hot spot while small, when hit with a stick at almost *any* velocity will trigger at/near maximum velocity. On smaller pads, it's harder to avoid the hot spot, but even on 12" pads you can accidentally hit it very easily and ruin any chance of realistic dynamics. The triggers on this pad are closer to the edge/rim, so a lot less likely to be struck by a stick. This pad looks great (not plastically, like so many Roland pads). However, compared to the PDX-100 and PDX-85, the rim trigger is very different, at least when used with my TD-50X module. I don't get the distinct tom rim-click noise I get when using other pads (and yes, I set the correct trigger type when switching/testing different triggers). This is probably fine when used as a tom pad, but I'm not so sure how great of a snare pad it would make for this reason.
