Updated version of this mammoth publication - definitely worth it!
I previously purchased Mark's 'Learn FileMaker Pro 16' and found it invaluable in my work as a developer. I've now moved up to version 19 of FileMaker and purchased 'Learn FileMaker Pro 19' recently.Mark has really done a great job with this. It's been updated in a slightly newer format and he's listened to feedback from those who purchased the previous version. It's a massive undertaking to cover a subject like this and here it's been done very well. The examples are clear and the writing style not to geekish and heavy for those who are beginners in this area but at the same time giving enough 'meat' for advanced users to get their teeth into.A solid publication that will definitely be open at some page or other on my desk for many months to come.Recommended.

Complete guide
Complete guide but writer does assume that you already know a lot about Filemaker and databases in general. It is not for absolute beginners. It is great if you need a refresher course in Filemaker. Has some very useful tips.

Good, Basic Book
As someone who has been in IT for well over 30 years, it was a good book to quickly get you up-to-speed on the basics of Filemaker. The book includes basic information on writing scripts, but lacks in examples of complete scripts you can actually use to accomplish tasks such as adding records to a related table, counting the number of detail records related to a given master record, filterding unrelated records on multiple criteria, etc. As there are apparently no other current books on Filemaker scripting, I found myself frequently scouring the Internet to find robust sample applications with scripts to figure out all the tasks I needed to accomplish in an application with over 40 tables and 60 layouts. Many of these tasks were trivial to accomplish with straight SQL statements in other development environments but are much more convoluted with Filemaker. An advanced Filemaker scripting book would be a sure winner.

Easy to read and understand. Good tips!
It’s a great written book. This was my second FileMaker book I have purchased. The biggest change I have made is labeling all my fields with in a table , the table name.Example. - Contact table would have fieldsContacts | firstnameContacts | last nameContacts | c_fullnameDefinitely a different way of doing things. Makes database look cleaner.I really would like to write my own FileMaker book, and would love some tips on how to write a programming book, and get a reseller to sell my book. I do have a different type of programming book I’d like to write thats not typical in programming.Good job Mark!

Unless you're already a pro, this is very useful
Better than the FMP 16 version (which wasn't bad), this has downloadable example files. They would be even better if they offered a "do-it-step-by-step" form, with explanations of each step, rather than already-built solutions. Altogether, FMP has a pretty steep learning curve, and you can't be impatient, but it's worth it. Other training resources used in parallel are very helpful.
