It works pretty well, the fit was a bit tight and it does kind of get caught every so often when closing it but it’s very durable and is pretty well aligned otherwise. I haven’t noticed any other problems with it, works like it should and I can lift it back up like it isn’t even there.

Simple install. No interference with tailgate opening or closing. Works as stated no more sudden dropping of tailgate on opening.

Been over a year. Can't even imagine not having this. I don't even remember the days of bed slamming. Working steering still! Glad I got this brand!What took me so long? I'm cheap. Just installed, 10 minutes in the dark... Don't use your tailgate as a work bench while doing, as you gotta lift it to undo the cables. Instructions are a tad unclear in the beginning. Just look at the posted photos and your items. That's easier than the instructions. Straight forward. Ridiculous easy and no more bed slamming! I'm upset at myself for not doing this years ago bc of price. Saved $10 and finally committed to buying. Glad I did. I'll update this review of it fails or 6 months from here. Has a warranty, so I'll update in a year as well. Team Chevy! 12 Z71.

Doesn't work on an Avalanche, sadly
I bought this product on a whim knowing that a 2013 Avalanche wasn’t specifically listed in the fitment details. It installed easy but the shaft isn't long enough (that's what she said?) to let the tailgate come completely down. Other than that, it operates very nicely and lowers the tailgate slowly and smoothly.The install was super easy and the rivnut thing holds very well. I might do an additional mod and move the upper plate down a bit to see if that helps but I'm not disappointed with the overall product.Great purchase that should be a factory item.
