RETROSPECT: THE HIDDEN LIFE OF MAC SCOTT Paperback – 31 Jan. 2021

Review update: I just left a review on the last book of the series and realised that if anyone has made it that far doesn’t need my review as they will be diving right in. So on that note I suggest you download this book and get stuck in. It is worth it and so much more. I’m waiting for the tv series, movie, all of the above! I have read this book twice now and I was just as hooked as the first time 5 stars doesn’t cover it.I absolutely loved this book. It is everything you are looking for in a thriller mixed with a bit of woman on woman love and it makes the perfect story. I cannot wait for the next instalment.

I will start off by saying that the author got some flak for this book when it was first released and she made an apology in her social media acconts about the errors in the book. As she already knows about them, and I think she has been commendable in owning up, then I am not deducting any stars for errors.What an amazing read. I was totally hooked from beginning to end. I don't think I would still be here if I had gone through all that Mac has, she has been through the mill more than once and still here to tell the tale. I think she is a great character. I also loved Alfred, Anna and Alisha.I'm happy to read that there will be a second book with Mac and look forward to reading it.I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND giving this book a read. Yes there are stil some errors in the book, but please give the author a chance. It truly is an amazing read.

This book is AMAZING. I could not put it down. Believable dialogue, fantastically well thought out characters with perfect character development! You really get lost in Mac’s world and what she’s been through to be how she is.Brutal, sexy, thrilling.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one. It was not at all what I was expecting. I was completely sucked into the intensity of this book and was definitely in tears more than once. I kept thinking ‘ah this must be the end’ but thankfully the story kept going. I personally struggle ‘seeing’ others struggle so I found the book quite intense - but once I accepted that was the genre I could be swept away by the story. I am really interested to see what happens next.

Credit to the author - I've been flying my way through this immensely gripping story and started to follow the author on social media, when I saw a post from the author who was very bravely making an announcement that sadly her book had been released by the publishers without complete editing which led to the book containing spelling errors and repeated words :( I had noticed some errors when reading but in no way has it affected my enjoyment of the book or my eagerness for the story! But this new author didn't take it lying down and not only publicly acknowledged the error but took on the publishers and fought for the book to be republished with proper editing, my kindle copy instantly updated and is now error free! This is extremely commendable! If you have one of the originally published paperback versions please don't be negative, it wasn't the author's fault! Overlook the errors and think yourself lucky to have a unique and future valuable book as this author is going places!!

The prologue was the best I have ever read and I was hooked from the start. I just wanted to read more. The book didn't disappiont. The characters are engaging and you grow to love them. Mac is courageous and you just want her to be safe, but she goes out facing danger again and again. This book is a must read. You will love it.

This book is definitely a thriller, once you are in it just keeps hold of you.As the characters build so does your love for them. You cannot help but root for them, hold your breath when they face danger, and smile when it things are going well. I became so immersed I felt like I was living through it with them!The book is pacey and keeps you engaged so I always looking forward to my evenings and getting back to reading the next bit, my social media scrolling disappeared, and I was disappointed when I realised I was running out of pages. Thank goodness for book 2!

I am amazed that a new author has written this ,finally a thriller that is thrilling ! Well written and truly gripping all of that plus romance and a real kick ass lesbian kicking ass !I dont normally go for sequals but have already ordered the second book . Thank you Ms Forton for delivering such a great read , i am already anxious to start the next one

This book absolutely has it all! An amazingly captivating story that leaves you wondering what comes next at every turn, flawless character development that makes you want to personally know the players in the story (Main Characters AND Supporting Characters), as well as a heart rendering budding romance.This truly is a must read for so many, many reasons. I tear through books both on my Kindle and on Audible. This book is worthy of paper purchase and a spot on the shelf of favorites. Kudos to the author for a brilliant story and characters so well written as make me want to befriend them.

Oh geez where should I start?! Haha. I love this book so much. I cried, i got scared, i laughed, i screamed and fell in love(not in particular order lol) with this book. Action packed, i felt i was really in the battle as well. The love.... Safety or happiness, the one you loved before you lost your memory or after it all came back?! A little something of I hate you i love you hahaha.I love everything about this story. Worth my time!!!! Thank you A.J. Hutchinson-Forton for this genuis story!!!! Can't wait for the next one!!!!!

Woaaah, this book. I couldn’t put it down but then life kept happening and it was the worst feeling to not be able to just sit down with Mac, Anna and Alfred and not leave them. This was a fantastic read that certainly doesn’t disappoint for a single second. It certainly didn’t disappoint me. I had my heart shattered repeatedly and I can’t wait to read more about them

I’ve given this 5-stars because it was one of those compelling stories where you have to find out what happens, no matter that the content of the storyline is sometimes emotionally difficult to read. It was certainly confronting in parts, made worse by the suspicion you, with the main protagonist, didn’t know who to trust.Spoiler. I don’t usually like books where part of the story is left unresolved with the promise of book two. (Especially when it took some detective work on my part actually finding the second book on Amazon.) I am definitely going to read the next book, I can’t not read it, but I’ll need some down time before I gird my loins in readiness.

Trying to get back to the woman she was before her two year abduction is nearly impossible for Mac Scott. The problem is that while she’s back among the living, her past comes along with her and she has to go through several brutal twists and turns to go on. Once she gets through, she only finds more she must fight through, only this time, it’s her own flesh and blood. Can she fight through again? A great read from beginning to end.
