Law & Order: The Fourth Year

Another good season of Law and Order is available for marathon viewing. It's also the last season Chris Noth appears as Detective Logan until he returns in the 5th season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.Jerry Orbach as Detective Lennie Briscoe is also fun to watch with his sense of humor. If you like previous seasons, you'll like this fourth season.

Ah, the Fourth Year of Law & Order is almost here, and it's reason to celebrate! This is THE year that they replaced Richard Brooks and Dann Florek with S. Epatha Merkerson and Jill Hennessy (who is HOT). This is also the year where the characters start really becoming part of the plot. I won't explain every episode for those of you who have no idea, but I will go into some of them - A talk show host stages the murder of a child molester in "Sweeps", Logan connects with fellow Catholics in "Apochypha" the murder suspect whose conviction got Stone promoted to Executive Assistant District Attorney is acquitted in a second trial, leading Stone to almost resign in "American Dream", one of my all-time favorites in the series. Schiff's friend won't cooperate with the police in "Snatched", Kincaid almost resigns because of an affair in "Censure", Briscoe must make a difficult ethical choice in "Kids", Briscoe and Logan solve 5 homicides in 1 day in "Mayhem" racial tensions run high in "Sanctuary" and Ben Stone resigns in "Old Friends" the season finale. I love that Stone resigns because of only a witnesses murder; it shows that Stone is always in the pursuit of justice, and he doesn't care about winning. There is also over 45 minutes of deleted material, so if you're a fan of Law & Order, you must buy The Fourth Year on December 6th.

I have seen many complaints regarding the quality of the Law & Order box set DVDs.I hesitated before purchasing any of the box sets but I decided to see for myself. I figured that if there was a problem I could always return them.I have watched 3 seasons and so far everything I haven't experienced any problems.I think the problem may be one of three things:(1) DVD Players older than 5 years may have a problem reading certain DVDs because like anything else, technology used to print the DVDs has changed over time. (i.e., dual layer process) I had this problem with a perfectly good high end Sony DVD player that I purchased over 5 years ago. Certain DVD would not play.(2) You have to be very careful when handling DVDs especially two sided DVDs. Make sure that you check for finger prints on the surface after you take it out of the case. One tiny smudge can cause the DVD to freeze, return to the beginning or not play at all.(3) Invest in a DVD player laser cleaner. Dust can accumulate on the laser inside the DVD player. One particle can really make a difference in how your DVD player performs.

This was a great season because of the stories taken from contemporary news: Geraldo Rivera's public brawl, Sunny Von Bulow's coma, Charles Manson, the Billionaires Boys Club, Sol Wachtler (the stalking judge), Lorena Bobbitt, the murder of Michael Jordan's father, the Crown Heights Riot, and Nancy Kerrigan and Monica Seles. It marks the last appearance of Michael Moriarty as the Executive ADA, and the introduction of S. Epatha Merkerson as Lt. Van Buren and Jill Hennessey as Claire Kincaid. As usual, the casting is top-notch, the writing is tight, and the emphasis is on good acting with lots of close-ups rather than high tech or special effects. There was also a lot of spillover of plots into sister series (Law & Order: UK and Law & Order: SVU). Definitely worth watching!

Jerry Orbach is superb as Det.Lenny Briscoe, a real highlight of this part of the series.

Law & Order is one of the best series ever made, but seasons 3 & 4 are missing on Netflix so I bought them here. Excellent acting and writing.

Law and Order, the fourth season contains some great episodes. Whenever you have Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Mike Logan (Chris Noth) investigating a case, you have a winning combination. Seasons 3-5 are my favorite seasons because of the great performances by these two great detectives who have great on-screen chemistry and play the part of New York detectives flawlessly.

This is not sumone you shood order from as thay mack it hard to return the item you have order.I order a US DVD for uk and thay have made it hard to return it just be cerfill on the site and amazon you cane do moor to much upset !!!!
