Worth Every Penny and Every Great Review
We have a bicycle rack that made so much noise, we thought it was going to fall off, and whenever we went over a bump, it jumped up and down so much we thought it was trying out for the Olympics. We hated that rack and one of the family games on trips was to figure out ways of insulting the rack and coming up with creative complaints about it. Granted, the rack that was attached to the hitch through a hitch reducer/extender. Then I read online about trying a hitch tightener to resolve these problems. Bought two of this hitch tightener based on the good reviews. When I opened the package, I realized that the materials were of high quality and both the bar and the base are very thick, so they will withstand alot of load stress, which is important because that is their one function. Bolts are threaded and nuts are machined very very well, so you can tighten it, all the way to the base by hand (another good sign of a high quality product) and you only need a wrench to make it super tight (which they recommend). After I hooked up both hitch tighteners (the first between the hitch and the reducer/extender and the second between the rack and reducer/extender), the product exceeded my expectations (remember, the part with the bend goes on the smaller part of the hitch). Solid, solid, solid. Every flex, creak, squeak and bounce from the bicycle rack was gone. Even better, when I reached out to the company, I received a correspondence from an actual person who listened to what I had to say and addressed my issue. In today's day and age, it doesn't get any better than that. I could have bought a cheap knock off, but I'd rather have something that does its job exceptionally well, that I can leave on the hitch all of the time and that I don't have to worry about rusting or failing in the future.Highly recommended.

A Great Device When Used Properly
This simple device works well and is reasonably priced. I haven't tried the other designs but, going by overall ratings, this one is the best value I could find. Also, it came quickly and well packaged. As stated, the u-bracket is heavy stainless steel and the bottom plate is powder coated steel. I used it to stabilize a cargo carrier I had modified to hold my son's electric powered wheel chair and it worked very well. Most of these carriers fit the 2" receiver very loosely and have lots of room to wobble around. This eliminated all movement from that interface but has no effect on the carrier's flex and or how much weight it can handle. You have to determine if the carrier has adequate load capacity and use this appropriately.

Product works well, but replace the provided washers.
After initial use (one haul trip), I checked the nuts and one of them had loosened up considerably, allowing for removal by hand. Assuming I torqued too low, I ensured both nuts were secured prior to my second haul trip. Again, the same loose nut (bottom nut when mounted in the 3 o'clock position). In addition, after the first haul trip, one of the lock washers fell off in two pieces - material seems very thin. I will purchase a proper flat washer and lock washer setup from the hardware store for future use of this product. It appears to work well when the nuts are tightened, but I'd rather not risk one loosening and coming off on the roadway.

A good solution to a maddening problem
It works. My wife's trailer is aluminum so when the hitch rattles it reverberates through the whole trailer and it quite loud. This hitch tightener is a good solution to a maddening problem. It costs just a little more than the cheapest versions but it is good quality stainless steel so in the long run I'm sure it is more economical than replacing a rusted one. If you remove and reinstall your draw bar often it would be worth while to carry a ratcheting wrench for tightening / loosening the nuts, 3/4" or 19 mm will work. It only needs tightening till the nuts are secure enough to not loosen so it's easy enough to remove later making it a good choice for wobbly bike racks, cargo haulers and other hitch mounted accessories as well as draw bars.

Totally immobilizes, perfect!
I got this to remove both vertical and horizontal movement in a 2" to 1 1/4" receiver adapter which I was using to attach a bike rack. This product is very sturdily made, much heavier duty than I was expecting, and completely immobilized my bike rack. I am so glad I got this rather than fussing around and trying to shim it. I attached this sideways to try to remove side to side sway, but I may decide to change that as it seems to work so well that it prevents both vertical and horizontal rattling no matter what. I may try to put on a second nut just in case, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere thus far. Totally worth buying if you've got rattle!

Works great, does exactly what it is supposed to do.
I used this Stainless Steel "Quiet-Collar" Hitch Tightener by HitchTech on my 2 inch hitch that supports my Swagman 64664 Bike Rack which holds 2 bikes. This rack requires an extended ball mount, which allows me to tow a trailer as well. It did a fine job of securing the hitch and there is absolutely no play between the receiver & the ball mount. No more rattling noises from the hitch, and the bike rack with bikes mounted doesn't wiggle at all. You'll need a 3/4" wrench to install & remove the tightener and ball mount, so this also serves as a theft deterrent without having to purchase a locking hitch pin. Highly recommend this product.

I had been experiencing the clunk for years and never knew there was a cure for it and now glad to have something to correct the
I purchased the product in the Fall of 2016. I installed it on my Jeep in April 2017 and we towed our trailer camping on Memorial Day weekend. NO MORE CLUNKing at all. It was all quiet from the hitch. Prior to having this, there was a near constant clunking from the towbar due mostly to the horrible tollway roads in Chicagoland. No more of that now because of this simple hitch tightener. I recommend this product to everyone who tows a trailer and experiences the clunking. UPDATE - we towed the trailer to Colorado in July and again no clunking. It was great. Thank you Hitch Tech
