Model-Based Systems Engineering with OPM and SysML

This is more than expected.

This book provides readers with foundations and advanced approaches for model based system engineering using ISO 19450 – Object-Process Methodology (OPM). OPM provides for designing systems, products and services, and explaining phenomena of all kinds. This book teaches MBSE foundations practice principles of designing and analyzing complex systems, products and services, and specifying natural and artificial phenomena of all kinds. Learners from this book get to know and understand model-based systems engineering, and practice a useful systems thinking enhancement tool for expressing and communicating their ideas in a coherent and formal yet intuitive way.

The title is quite deceptive. All the author really does is complain about SysML and provides very little MBSE information. This is really just a book about OPM.

This book is about OPM, written by the OPM’s father, so I do not agree other buyer’s criticisms who were expecting contents more oriented towards SysML. SysML is dealt with in this book as a comparison to OPM. I do love this book (I’m still reading it) because of its pedagogical approach. It is deep (a part of it is about the OPM ontology) but at a same time pragmatic, straight to the point. The author knows how to present the contents with structure, in my (subjective) reader-centric opinion. I wish Dov Dori had written a book only about SysML (if he hasn’t ever yet) because I would buy it. The examples he uses are clear for my understanding level.
