A small cost for the right tool. Working on fret ends is now a DIY task, not a guitar shop expense.
I bought a neglected Fender MIM strat for a good price so I could flip it. I decided I would clean it up myself rather than pay someone to do it. I had to buy a bunch of cheap luthier tools figuring I would flip guitars as a hobby. The strat had egregious fret sprout - among other issues - which I filed down with an inexpensive Stew Mac-like file. A fret end file was a must after filing the frets down to finish level to smooth the sharp edges. For the cost, I think I got the best one available. I've watched some luthier videos and there is a technique to it that has to be practiced a bit, but I'll be doing my own frets now rather than paying someone else to do it - probably with the same tool.

Very effective.
I have used this for a few minutes only but it works really well. It's smaller than what i expected, in pictures it looks larger. It's just s a file, what more can it be? I thought. Actually it's a really good fret file, use light pressure and gauge how things are doing, this thing is like a hot knife through butter. The quality is really good imo. The plain file areas protect the fretboard but you still have to be careful, next time i will try to use masking tape a bit.

Small but mighty
Quality file, they’re like snap on but for guitar stuff. There might be cheaper files but they don’t have the warranty and support you get. They’re not cheap it’s a pretty petite piece but for what it does it’s perfect.

Worth every penny
This worked so good polishing my frets after leveling and reworking them with h a z file I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. I finished the by polishing with a dremel polish wheel. I have bought new guitars that the frets didn’t look this good!
