Design Engineering 011003 Universal Catalytic Converter Heat Shield

I installed this on my Land Rover Discovery 2 to help block the heat from the catalytic converter to the front driveshaft. I feel this will work great, but I do work about the nuts coming loose, as no lock washers were provided (hence the 4 stars). I may have to source some on my own.

I used the heat shield on the underside (next to vehicle body) of a Tacoma truck. This original part had fallen off due to the poor welds and generally poor heatshields on the Tacoma. I do not believe this Universal Heat Shield is stainless steel because it was so easy to bent by hand, but the mounting clamps are stainless steel. So I guess time will tell how long it lasts.

It replaced my old heat shield that rotted away due to weathering and salt and debris. Easy to put on and the price is good since I can't find a oem heat shield. This works and I recommend it.

The shield works, but they forgot to include some clips. I'll be off to the hardware store.

Good size, bends pretty easilly, worm drive clamps are holding well after a few months. No complaints.

I am skeptical of the bolts and nuts holding tight but I am pleased with the final look and function at this price range.

Came with everything from the pics including the hardware in my case.

Ordered twice. Stainless steel standoffs missing in both instances. Third order had all parts. Does the trick if you don't care about the underside of the catalytic converter. I also used lock washers which are not provided. If I did it again, I would use dryer duct gear clamps and save these nice long gear clamps for another purpose. Time will tell how long it will last but it is sure cheaper than buying a flimsy shield from Toyota (Tacoma) for $205 cdn plus tax. Happy with it.
