An informative and easy read.
Bought this yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for the various references to dracoraptor.

Good, but could have done with a proofreader
This book is a very useful guide to best places to find fossils in Britain, and what you can expect to find in each location. It is not intended as a palaeontology primer, although it does contain lots of background information for the novice reader.Bearing this mind, criticisms of the lack of pictures are rather unfair (although most of them look like they are copyright-free, taken from old publications), but a lack of maps is perhaps more significant. Also, the book could have done with a thorough proofreading as there are numerous typos (e.g. polyph(y)odont on p. 187 and Tap(e)jarid on p.227), and the author's description of the source of amber on p.168 is just plain wrong (it's not fossil sap).Apart from these little niggles, the book is well written, useful and humorous, and has prompted me to plan visits to some of the places described.

Not what I expected
This was like a very old school text book for kids. No glossy, informative photos... just a very unappealing, boring to look at book.

Fossil book without photos!
Disappointed that the book does not have any photos. The few images it has are not very clear making identifying fossils tricky. Might have to buy another book for Identifying purposes. However from what I have read the text explains in detail the fossil regions of the UK and how to find them.

Really not worth owning or reading
Much of this book is about as boring as it gets. It's certainly no way to introduce anybody into the fascinating world of fossils and collecting them. The text is over-simplified and that said, proof-reading was clearly dispensed with. The book lacks photographs and other graphics associated with the genre these days. I found. in total contrast, this book to be the very best available and worth the extra - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Guide-Fossil-Collecting-England-Wales/dp/0992997992.The reviews say it all, really.

Beautifully written informative book
A wonderfully written informative read on fossil sites throughout the UK. It’s written in a clear concise manner full of rich details of not only fossil sites but also geological features of the land and the people that inhabit them. Very easy to follow and read with lovely touches of humour.
