Nice mouse, works on Linux too; the Bluetooth standard is problematic
This is a nice mouse. I never thought I'd say that, because a mouse is a mouse. But this one just works. It connects easily, stays connected, and tracks well on almost any surface. The tracking and scrolling speeds are just right without adjustment, and the buttons and wheel feel just right. No problems with Bluetooth. The box says it works with Linux too, although I didn't test it. You can't go wrong. Just buy it. UPDATE: It works fine with Linux; the mouse is still excellent, but Bluetooth is problematic. Read the update below. The directions are very brief, very easy to follow, and are printed on the inside of the package. To set it up, it takes a couple of minutes to "pair" it to the computer. You just press a button on the mouse and acknowledge it on the computer, and you're done. I got it for a Win 10 laptop/tablet, and the USB-C ports are too close together to hold both the power supply and a wi-fi mouse receiver. I bought a wi-fi mouse, USB-C adapter, and a small hub to make it all work. Turns out, USB-3 interferes with wi-fi, and the mouse action was jerky. With this mouse you don't have to fuss with any of that stuff. ========================== UPDATE: It turns out that Bluetooth uses the same frequency band with USB-3 AND 2.4 GHz wi-fi (B and G bands). In my case it worked for several months and then, suddenly it quit working. Bluetooth would instantly disconnect the mouse when I started a wi-fi connection. The computer manufacturer replaced the Bluetooth receiver, with no effect. The problem occurred with that computer running Windows 10 on any 2.4 GHz wireless network, but not with Linux or with any other computer. The only common denominator is the Windows Bluetooth driver for that computer, and I think that's probably the problem. From reviews of other Bluetooth mice, every review I found showed that a minority of people report connection problems--regardless of the price of the mouse. The problem appears to be Bluetooth itself, since it shares frequencies with other wireless standards. The software is supposed to handle the shared frequencies without problem, but it may not be iron-clad. I am now using the mouse with another computer, and it still works flawlessly. I leave it on all the time, but the batteries still last for months and months.

Love this mouse.
My husband allowed me to borrow his mouse when my apple magic mouse stopped working. I liked it so much, that I decided to buy one of my own. I like the mouse because it tends to stay connected, the battery life is very good, it's not too bulky and fits perfectly in my hand. Because I am a video editor, I need a mouse that allows me to easily guide the mouse to make precise selections on the timeline without the mouse pointer running all over the screen in a different direction. That is what my apple magic mouse kept doing. It had a mind of its own. But the Logitech M557 works like a charm. I'm very pleased with my experience. As a mac user, I miss having the ability to swipe left and right using this mouse because it does not include those features. However, I can still right-click and get my shortcut menus and, of course, the scroll button works perfectly as well. I was willing to give up a few comforts for the ease of use with this mouse.

No sleep-wake delay
Have owned for 3 years; just bought 2nd unit for spouse. Size is about 3 1/2 by 2 1/4 by 1 1/4 inches; good for larger hands. good battery life (2 AA). weighty. works on most surfaces (I use it on fuzzy arm of my chair.) No noticeable wake-up lag when using with Windows. Works with W8,W10 and Android tablets. No extraneous buttons on the sides; they are clean. Thumbwheel has a light, satisfactory detent feel. Reliable bluetooth connection & easy to connect. After 3 years, I have had to trim the ends of the back, bottom plastic glide, as they were curling a bit. Wish they offered more colors. I've dropped it on the carpet many times, and the top cover always pops off. I might ask for a little stronger "hold" in that respect. Overall the best I've found, out of many, in a moderate price range for bluetooth mice. The top priority for me has been the lack of sleep - wake delay.

Great mouse but loud
I bought this mouse to replace a Logitech M305 that is 8-10 years old and that I have loved and had no issues with until recently. I liked the bluetooth feature, customizable buttons, and price point of this M557. I am using the mouse with a 2013 MacBook Pro and it works great - no connectivity issues and was able to customize the buttons to my liking. The size is great for me, 5'2" female, and offers the portability I need. The only complaint I have is how loud it is. Before purchasing, I read a few reviews that commented on the click noise. I honestly thought those reviewers were just "mouse snobs" as I had never in the past used a mouse that I even thought about how loud the click was. I was sure that it wouldn't bother me. However, after 2 days of use, I can tell the noise is not something I want to listen to everyday. I am a student and am on my computer more than I am away from it most days. That being said, I have ordered a Logitech M330 "silent" mouse to try out. I will keep this bluetooth mouse for our home computer as it works great and was worth the price I paid for it, but I don't see me using it on a daily basis. I think the ergonomics could be a bit better, as well. I've noticed a bit of stiffness in my hand/arm since I've been using it, but hate to attribute it to the mouse until I give it a better test run since I also do a lot of heavy lifting for my job. It may also be important to note that I had no idea my M305 was such a pricy (ie. higher quality) mouse since it was given to me when I was in high school. So maybe that also has something to do with my perspective of the loudness of this M557. Overall, great mouse but a little loud.

I had my first one for over a year and a half and it took a beating as I traveled a lot and it was in and out of my backpack on a daily basis. Despite all that it worked great. I was using it with a surface pro and the bluetooth connection was solid every time. It's very responsive and the sensitivity takes some getting used to, but overall a great mouse. The batteries are supposed to last for an entire year due to the low power consumption of the device, but I probably changed the batteries at least two times in that year and half. So with constant daily use you're not quite getting a year out of the batteries. However, not having to change any batteries for months is really great. I would love a model with a built in rechargeable battery that you would only need to charge once every few months. Recently for whatever reason it suddenly stopped working altogether. Now with that said, I loved it so much I just bought another one and I'm still giving it 5 stars.

This was a replacement BT mouse as the previous one failed. I selected another Logitect as it is a known brand. The mouse has the usual left/right buttons and scroll wheel. Pressing the scroll wheel activates the mouse movement scroll. It had an additional button on top labelled Windows. Pressing this opens up the Search window; I don't use it. There is an audible click when you press the left or right buttons. It does not bother me but it could be intrusive in heavy use.
