Used to diagnose the capacitors on our HVAC system. This includes the fan and Herm (Compressor) caps along with the blower cap for the indoor fan. Repair folks charge a fortune for any of these to be replaced. None are more than 10-15 dollars and all are super easy to replace on your own!Came with battery (9v) and short leads are meant to reduce errors on measurements. Easy read screen and well made in construction. Functions perfectly.

Seems to be quite accurate but I'm confused why there are three test jacks for a two lead capacitor. Seems to work either way using center terminal as common.

Capacitors are the weak link in your central AC system. I got tired of paying hundreds of dollars for a contractor to sell me a replacement capacitor that you can buy and replace yourself for a fraction of the cost?This multimeter costs very little money compared to other multimeters and worked great. The only problem with it is the test leads are too short, making it difficult to use.Subsequently, my son in law found that a pair of the Allmeter banana plug to alligator test leads, 3.28 ft long, 15 amp at 1000 v, sold here on Amazon for $9 fit this meter and worked perfectly!So now for under $30 we have a meter that we share that allows us to test the cap’s strength on our systems with leads long enough to not have to remove the cap brackets off the fan & motor housings. Just remove the wires, safely discharge the stored voltage, set up the meter on the top of the condenser or air handler and read the capacitance after connecting the strong alligator clips. If the cap is within the rated plus or minus 6% it’s good. If not replace the capacitor for short money.Test your attic blower fan capacitor and your outdoor dual condenser fan and hermetic capacitors yourself and replace as necessary, saving hundreds of dollars vs having your HVAC contractor do it. Watch a couple of YouTube videos and with this meter you’re on your way!Remember to shut off all electrical disconnect switches, verify with a separate voltage meter that power is off, and also to discharge the stored voltage in the capacitors before touching & testing them.

The unit paid for itself right away when my AC stopped cooling last week. The old capacitor looked brand new with none of the usual bulge showing on top. I tested it and sure enough, it was defective. Quick swap for a new capacitor and I'm back with a functioning AC system. Saved me huge money. Thanks!!!
