we have a damp downstairs concrete floor that is 453 square feet. What would you recommend?

This one is exactly 4'x6' so 24' square feet.

1 inch mat....Will this withstand weights being dropped on them from hip or chest height? For example, doing power cleans or other crossfit workouts.

I don't have engineering evidence to back up my opinion, but I don't think so. I can compress these mats about 50% with just my thumb and forefinger. The mats at my gym are much thicker and seem made of industrial-strength foam or rubber. The kind you might see in an old-fashioned mechanic shop with heavy machinery lying on them. But these mats are terrific for body-weight exercises or even running and jumping. I just wouldn't trust heavy weights (like a 25-kg plate) being dropped on them. dumbbell curls setting down the weight with maybe a hands-width drop? Sure. Dropping from waist-height? No. Good luck!

Hi my question is does this resist high impact like weight lifting

Personally, this is what I use for my weight lifting area, even under my power rack which holds several hundreds of pounds of weights. The only concern is that placing items, like wire racks with small areas under each leg, can overly compress the material.
