Drawing the New Adventure Cartoons: Cool Spies, Evil Guys and Action Heroes Paperback – May 6, 2008

I like everything about his books.

I was one of those kids who had a fair amount of natural talent for drawing. The older I got the less I drew, for complicated reasons no doubt, until here I am middle aged and two and a half decades have passed since I drew regularly as a hobby. I always felt like I was wasting my talent and more importantly depriving myself of a satisfying hobby and intended to get back to drawing regularly some day.My natural style tends towards realism and takes more time and effort than I usually have after a days work. The step by step drawings in this book take me 10-15 minutes to complete and give me a sense of accomplishment. There are great little tips to help you move on to original cartoons eventually, and you can change the costumes etc. on the characters for more originality as well.If your goal is to cartoon this book will help, and you can also use it as a stepping stone to more realistic styles such as action comics ( Hart has a good book for that as well ). I wish there were more poses to copy but even so there is plenty for hours of drawing practice and improvement.

This one is good because it breaks down to about 6 steps to completely draw the figure.

so far so good. covers mostly everything. limited to teaching how to create your own characters. But it is as expected and as a learner, you have to improvise and try to do more from the basics in book. Overall, good because it provide the basics. For newbies, I suggest using some of these basics and improvising with other images to create your own character. It's a place to start learning.

My daughter loves drawing cartoon characters and is really finding this book to be useful.As a mom, I love that's it's age appropriate for her. She is 13 years old. A lot of the comics and cartoons today in my opinion have characters that are dressed too provocatively. This book is just right for her and her younger brother. Plus, the technique is fantastic. My daughter's drawings look great. I highly recommend this book.

This book was included in a purchase I did of several drawing books from various authors/artists. I wanted to experiment with various styles. This style keeps things simple so it is easy to add complexity afterwards if you want. I high recommend this along with other drawing books. Almost every author of these books say they did the same while growing up.. bought every drawing book they could get their hands on.

This is one of my favorite cartooning books from Chris Hart. This book has a lot of information packed into it pages and I had fun working my way through it. I'm sure I will refer back to it for years to come.

This is a great cartoon book by one of the best artists. I saw this book at a Michaels store on vacation but the price was too high. I got this one for less than half price over Michaels retail. I love Chris Harts cartooning style.

I follow Chris Hart on you tube and like his style of drawing. Bought this for my son who is starting to want to draw cartoons. Simple to follow guide, produces very nice cartoon characters so seems like a good starting point for the budding cartoonist.

Similar in style and content to the 'How to Draw Retro-Cool' but delivers as many of Chris Hart's books do. The usual stages of drawing each character plus the explanation 'why' this one is the evil genius, this one the cool spy etc.With the emphasis (like 'Retro-cool') on simplicity it is easy to follow and get good results while also appreciating the depth and thought process in drawing in this style.
