CTA Tools 4305 Large BMW Hub Puller

Worked surprisingly well.
Worked very well for removing the rare axles of a BMW 323i 2000 (E46) with lug pattern 5 x 120 mm. I gave it 4 stars because it did not fit right away out of the box. Due to metal casting imperfections, some holes require a slight filing. Not a big issue but you must have the right file that can fit inside the holes and perform the job. The maximum lug diameter is 120 mm (4.72"), which fits many BMWs (and perhaps other cars). You can find this info for BMWs by searching the internet under "BMW lug patterns" (I am sure you can do the same for other car brands). The tool is very similar to one made by OEMTOOLS (27037), which accommodates lug pattern diameters from 3.75" to 4.50" and is sold for half the price on Amazon. So the price of this tool is excessive. Finally the tool comes with a nut that allows it to be used with a puller hammer (which must be bought separately), requires a 19 mm wrench for tightening the black screw, and is made in Taiwan.SUGGESTION: CTA, you will sell more of these if you specify the minimum and maximum diameter of the lug patterns that the tool can accommodate !

This puller did not fit my E53 X5 (5 x 120 lug pattern).
This tool did t work for my BMW E53 X5 with a wheel bolt pattern of 5 x 120mm. The tool was too small to bolt onto the wheel hub. Saying the tool works with “large BMW” is a misrepresentation I think. The quality of the tool looked ok for the price but it wouldn’t fit so I couldn’t try it.

Works great on E46 330Ci front and rear hubs.
Works great on BMW E46 Front and rear wheel hubs.Front Hubs - removed hub and inner race, no need for the 3 jaw pullers to get the inner race which usually remains stuck on the stub axle. Removed both the left and right hand side with hub and inner race all in one piece. I was expecting the inner race to remain on at least one side, but not the case for me. Maybe I should have bought lotto tickets too.Rear Wheel Hubs - used to push rear axle through hub(axle removal), then the next step was to remove the hub itself which required a bearing separator since the axle is removed and nothing for the tool to push on. Worked like a champ. Splines are a tight fit on the rear axle for the E46 330CI. I have seen video DIY's where the axle can be removed by hand for a E46 325i. Not so with the 330CiUpdate: Need a 32mm wrench to turn the screw. I had to bring the screw with me to Home Depot to find the right size. Hope that saves someone a trip to the store.

Tough tool that did the job!
I was skeptical about the tool but need to get my rear axle out of the hub so i purchased it. This tool is tough! I had to heat the axles and hammered on the tool with my impact for awhile and the tool held up great. Made the job possible. My only issue and why I did not rate 5 stars is that the holes did not line up exactly for my car, i had to hone them out a bit due to the casting metal. Not a deal breaker by any means.

Does not fit large BMW hubs as seller says it does.
I can confirm that this hub puller does not fit a BMW X5 and Range Rover HSE (2003-2006 used BMW drivetrain and suspension). I will bore out the holes and enlarge the inner diameter to fit the hub center. Hopefully the casting will hold up, but I’m not too optimistic as you get what you pay for - I hope I’m wrong. Maybe I’ll make a video showing how much torque it will take before it blows up. Stay tuned, I’ll update this when I do.

Good Quality and Nice and Heavy
Works perfectly for the front axles of my e46 2005 330xi. Fits over the center hub unlike most other pullers of this design. Nice and heavy design. Make sure you grease up the threads before you start using it otherwise you'll mess them up.

Center hub fitting is large enough but lug bolt pattern ...
Center hub fitting is large enough but lug bolt pattern is too small to fit late model BMW'S-each hole on the outer flange that bolts to the hub is about 5mm too short-i.e. the lug pattern is wider than the tool bolt pattern.
